  1. WOW those are cheap how's the quality?
  2. http://www.giants.com/news/eisen/story.asp?story_id=25558 EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Giants general manager Jerry Reese today named Marc Ross as the team’s Director of College Scouting. Ross has been in the NFL for 11 years, including the last three as a national college scout for the Buffalo Bills. Reese, the Giants’ player personnel director for five years, had continued to do that job since being named general manager on Jan. 16. Reese’s former title of Director of Player Personnel has been eliminated. As college scouting director, Ross will be in charge of the Giants’ college scouting department and the team’s draft. Director of College Scouting Marc Ross “We liked Marc’s skill set,” Reese said. “He has been a college scouting director. He was the youngest college director in the league when he was with the Philadelphia Eagles. So he understands the management and the dynamics of the department. Marc is an outstanding scout himself. We like that about him. All of the references that we called were very high on him. We think he is going to be a perfect fit for us.” “I’m extremely excited about the opportunity to work with this organization and also work with Jerry,” Ross said. “I hope I can be a part of getting this organization back to the Super Bowl.” In addition to Ross’ appointment, Reese announced that Jerry Shay, a member of the Giants’ scouting staff since 1977, is the Assistant Director of College Scouting. Veteran scouts Joe Collins, Jeremiah Davis and Steve Verderosa are now executive scouts who will be given increased responsibility. Ross’ first NFL job was as a public relations training camp intern with the Giants in 1995. After leaving camp, Ross worked in Columbia University’s athletics department. Ross returned to the NFL with the Eagles’ personnel department during the club’s 1996 training camp. He was the team’s eastern regional scout from 1997 until 2000, when, at age 27, he became the NFL’s youngest college scouting director. During his tenure in Philadelphia, Ross was responsible for drafting outstanding NFL Players such as Brian Westbrook, Lito Sheppard and Derrick Burgess. After seven years with the Eagles’ organization, Ross joined the Bills in the spring of 2004 as a national college scout. With the Giants, Ross will head a department in which many scouts have been in place for years. But he has no trouble about being at the forefront of such a veteran staff. “That’s no problem,” Ross said. “I have been scouting in the league since I was 23. I have always had to work with older guys. I was a director at 27 and I had to work with older guys underneath me. If you treat people fairly and with respect and do you your job efficiently and do it well, then age shouldn’t be a big factor.” Because he is coming from the outside, Ross will deliver a fresh perspective to the scouting department and offer some new thoughts on how to proceed. “You never want to get stagnant in any department, including the personnel department,” Reese said. “So we look forward to Marc’s new ideas. He has some new ideas and energy. He impressed us with some things that he talked about in the interview process. So we are all looking forward to some new ideas. I don’t want Marc to come in and try to reinvent the wheel. I think we can implement some of our old things that we do well along with some of the new things that he brings to the table for us so we can move forward. We don’t want to get stagnant and sitting still.” “I think that is why Jerry hired me, to get a different point of view and a different perspective,” Ross said. “I have been in a couple of places that do things entirely different. This is a traditional organization, but I think it is still progressive. I hope to add a different point of view and enhance everything that’s going on.” Ross was an All-Ivy League wide receiver at Princeton in 1993 and 94. He held five school records, including one as a receiver (a 20.2-yard average per catch in 1993) and four as a punt returner (most career returns, 74; most career return yards, 696; most returns in a season, 32 in 1994 and most yards in a game, 161 on six returns vs. Cornell in 1994). Ross earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Princeton and a master’s degree in sport management from the University of Massachusetts in 1997. A native of Sahron Hill, Penn., Ross and his wife, Pualani, have a daughter, Skylar, who was born in 2006

  6. even better news http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football...8p-397055c.html Outside doubts on Strahan Giants trainer Ronnie Barnes initially said it would take 2-4 weeks for Michael Strahan to recover from the sprained Lisfranc joint in his right foot, and Strahan hopes his return will come on the shorter end of that spectrum. However, both projections might be overly optimistic. "I would be shocked if he's back this season," said Dr. Elton Strauss, the chief of orthopedic trauma and adult reconstruction at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. "That Lisfranc injury is a bad injury. Phil Simms had the same injury in '90 (when he missed the final two regular-season games and the entire run to Super Bowl XXV). "It's a bad sprain because you need the mid-part of your foot to really push off. And for a defensive lineman who's got to charge the ball every time, I would be shocked if he's back." Dr. Strauss, who believes "Strahan's injury is totally field-related" (it happened on the FieldTurf at Giants Stadium), said while Strahan is likely already feeling better, the biggest issue will be his ability to put pressure on the foot." Strahan admitted that was a concern. "You have to get in a stance and push off," the defensive end said. "You've got to be able to get on your toes. You've got to cut, you've got to be able to plant your foot and hold it. (With) bad knees, bad legs, (or) bad feet, there's really not much you can do when it comes to playing any football out there."
  7. i had a feelign this was gonna happen once all we heard was foot injury and no other information in last three weeks Hopefully some other guys can step up Willie Joe did not look that bad at DE much better then he ever has in the other postions
  8. i have been saying this 4 a while but Morton does not have the straight away speed needed 4 kick returns esp with the way our blocking has been i think we are much better off with someone else back on kick off's leave Morton in on Punts as i rather have sure hands then a hit or miss guy but kick offs it is time to try somthing else
  9. http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?....xml&coll=1 Kick returner Chad Morton might have juked and jived his way to the bench. According to someone familiar with the team's personnel decisions, the coaching staff is leaning toward running back Derrick Ward to replace Morton on kick returns for Sunday's game against the Bears. The person, who requested anonymity because of the confidential nature of starting lineup decisions, said Morton will keep his job as the team's punt returner. Morton is 27th in the NFL with a kick-return average of 21.4 -- the lowest output of his seven-year career except for his 20.6 average in nine games with the Jets in 2001. Part of the problem is Morton hasn't been getting enough help from his blockers up front. But he has often juked too much instead of getting upfield quickly -- something the Giants' special-teams coaches stress. "Some of (the blame) certainly has to be pointed at Chad, but a lot of it has to be spread around," coach Tom Coughlin said on Wednesday. "Our blocking and our holdups haven't always been as good as they should be, or can be, or what we have been used to." Ward had 16 kick returns for the Giants in 2004, including a 92-yard touchdown against the Redskins. But he did not have any returns last year when Willie Ponder began the season as the kick returner before losing the job to Morton. Ward missed the first six games this season with a broken foot suffered during training camp when he slipped on his way to a team meeting. Giants LBs Carlos Emmons (groin) and Brandon Short (quad) missed practice for the second straight day. They're listed as questionable, but it appears both will be out. If so, Reggie Torbor would start on the strong side with rookie Gerris Wilkinson making his second start on the weak side. CB Sam Madison (hamstring) has practiced the past two days and remains hopeful he will play on Sunday. In the meantime, the former Louisville Cardinal continued to have fun with C Shaun O'Hara regarding last night's Louisville-Rutgers game. O'Hara put a Rutgers shirt in Madison's locker over which the former Dolphin put a sign that read, "Rut-girls. 7-1, 8-1, whichever it is." Bears LB Brian Urlacher (toe) did not practice, but coach Lovie Smith said he was "feeling a lot better" yesterday. He remains questionable. Urlacher was asked about Giants RB Brandon Jacobs' challenging him yesterday to tackle him. "Who's he? One of the running backs?" Urlacher said. "If he gets the ball, I'll try to tackle him. It probably won't be me 1-on-1 because we have so many guys getting to the football right now. But if I get a chance, I'll just try to put him on the ground."... Bears WR Bernard Berrian (ribs) is doubtful. The Giants and Texans apparently traded more than shoves on the field last weekend. Both teams have had several players battling stomach viruses over the past week. Giants RB Tiki Barber and about six others were battling a virus in the days leading up to the game and the bug is still going around. Meanwhile, Houston DE Mario Williams and two other linemen sat out practice on Wednesday because of a virus.
  10. Now is the time to run the ball and run it hard. Barber and Jacobs, lets just punish the opposition.hopefully Huffy will use his brain and run Tiki and Brandon more Although I highly doubt it, Huffy never does anything that makes sense
  11. http://www.giants.com/news/eisen/story.asp?story_id=22275 Toomer to Miss Remainder of Season MRI on left knee revealed a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament. By Michael Eisen, Giants.com November 8, 2006 EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. –The Giants keep losing key players, even when they’re not playing games. Amani Toomer, the franchise’s career leader in receptions and yards and the co-leader this year in catches, will miss the rest of the season because of an injury to his left knee. An MRI done last night on the knee revealed a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament. After consulting with team physician Dr. Russell Warren in a visit to the Hospital for Special Surgery this morning, Toomer has opted to have surgery on the knee, which will sideline him until 2007. Toomer did not say exactly when he was injured. In last week’s 14-10 victory over the Houston Texans, Toomer felt pain in the knee. He went to the sideline, but returned to the field and finished the game. “I didn’t think anything of it,” Toomer said. “It was very disappointing when I got the MRI. This happened before (as a rookie 10 years ago, Toomer underwent surgery after tearing his right ACL). So I kind of knew what it felt like when it happened.” Toomer was given the option of trying to rehab the knee, then testing it on the field. But the risk then would have been potentially more serious injury or injuries to the knee. Although it puts him out for the season, Toomer chose surgery, largely because he wants to play next season and beyond. “It’s unstable at this point,” Toomer said. “I just want to fix it. I don’t want to get into the specifics of what happened, but I feel like the best thing to do is to get it fixed. Going out there and not being able to perform to the best of my ability is worse than getting it fixed now and taking the time (for it to heal). I’m disappointed I’m not going to be able to play for the Giants now.” This season, Toomer is tied with Tiki Barber for the team lead with 32 catches. He is second on the team in both receiving yards (360) and touchdowns (three). On Sept. 17 in Philadelphia, Toomer had one of the finest games of his 11-year tenure, with a career-high 12 receptions for 137 yards and two scores. The Giants are 6-2 and have a two-game lead over Dallas and Philadelphia in the NFC East. They host 7-1 Chicago Sunday with conference supremacy on the line. Given that, it’s an understatement to say this timing of this injury is very difficult for Toomer. “It’s really disappointing, because I feel I’m on one of the best teams I’ve been on since I’ve been on the Giants,” Toomer said. “Eli (Manning) is doing well, Plaxico (Burress) is doing well, (Jeremy) Shockey is doing well. It seems like everybody is hitting on all cylinders. For me not to be in the mix – I’m going to see them out there and winning games, but I definitely want to be a part of it. That’s the way it is sometimes.” "We all feel badly for Amani," head coach Tom Coughlin said after practice today. "Here is a young man who had dedicated himself to having a good year, and he was playing well. He has done anything we have asked of him. His numbers and big plays speak for themselves, but time and time again, he does the things that maybe people on the outside don't notice as much, but they are the kinds of things that make a difference in the ballgame. When you have somebody who is playing as well as Amani has and is as dedicated to the team as Amani is and you lose him, we are missing an important aspect of our team." So the Giants will carry on without their most experienced receiver. Toomer joined the Giants as a second-round draft choice in 1996. Among current players, only Michael Strahan has been with the team longer. Toomer has played in 158 regular season games, tying him with Doug Van Horn for 14th on the franchise’s career list. He is first in Giants history with 561 receptions, one more than Barber, and 8,157 yards (2,723 more than runner-up Frank Gifford). Toomer’s 22 100-yard games are a franchise record and his 47 touchdown catches tie him with Joe Morrison for second, one behind franchise record-holder Kyle Rote. Those are impressive numbers. And Toomer intends to add to them in 2007 and beyond. “I enjoy playing, I enjoy my teammates,” Toomer said. “I don’t see myself not doing it next year. “Hopefully next year I’ll be able to start up right where I left off. That’s where my focus is – getting my knee as healthy as possible so I can keep on playing and performing to the best of my ability.” *Elsewhere on the injury front, two players who are listed as questionable for the Chicago game returned to practice today: cornerback Sam Madison, who missed the previous two games with a hamstring injury, and wide receiver Sinorice Moss, who has played only one game this season because of a quad injury. Several other players who did not practice are also listed as questionable: wide receiver Plaxico Burress (back spasms) was expected to be on the field, but his back tightened up just prior to the start of practice and he stayed inside for treatment. The group also includes linebackers Carlos Emmons (groin) and Brandon Short (quad) and defensive end Justin Tuck (foot). One Pro defensive end, Michael Strahan (foot) is out, while the other, Osi Umenyiora (hip flexor) is doubtful. Fullback Jim Finn (knee) did not practice, but is listed as probable. *The Giants have released tight end Charles Davis from the practice squad and signed defensive end Matthew Rice to the practice squad. Rice, a product of Penn State, was originally signed by the Buffalo Bills and was in training camp with the St. Louis Rams
