  1. The saving are small, less than a million.  This is one of those Giants doing the right thing and giving the player a chance on the market now instead of June.  Logan Ryan didn't make the impact in his second season that he had in the first one.  He was another player on the roster who was making a lot more money than we can afford based on results.  Lets see what Julian Love makes of this opportunity.

  2. Dixon getting cut makes sense and far from some grand cap saving move.  Giants should extend Bradberry and rework that contract to get us back under the cap.

I think Shep has something left in the tank.  Think he could be Steve Smith...Mr. 1st down...just find a hole, sit down, get 8 yards on 3rd and 6.

I think he can play as well and he has made a career of being that guy we can count on to convert for a first down.  I guess the deal that was worked out is better than outright cutting him.  :ThinkingScratchHead2-small:

Yeah. The guy knows our system and shouldn’t cost too much. Toney is good but injury fucks him up.

I don't see how him knowing the system is a benefit considering new system being installed.  We can easily say Shepard is good but injuries as well.

Also, on that note... I've seen at least three separate articles this week about "teams inquiring to trade for Evan Engram."

Evan Engram is a free agent.  How dumb are these sports writers?

This is what happens when you pay them to focus on writing about a sport that does not run 24/7/365.  Only a matter of time before every writer starts running their own full draft as a weekly feature.

  6. I think Gettleman retired simply because he went around the last day saying his goodbyes and his failures is what kept it low key when you compare it to Ernie Accorsi.  I don't think Jerry Reese went around saying goodbye to everyone when he got fired.  Dave knew he failed and for all we know, his cancer might have returned.

I think Dave Gettleman tried his best and he had nowhere near the success with the Giants that he did with the Panthers.  The misses at Head Coach are really what led 19 wins in 4 years, never mind free agency and the draft.   Giants will be out of trouble with the salary cap easily in the next few months.

  7. Watched about 5 minutes of the game and it was nice to see former Giants out there getting the opportunity to play in the super bowl.  Odell Beckham Jr, Eli Apple, BJ Hill, Michael Thomas.  Hope Beckham Jr. has a full recovery and he's about to be father any day now I hope has continued to success on and off the field.

Maybe Garrett liked Glennon, but Judge and Gettlemen both wanted him in. Judge had major input into who we got last year.

But honestly, we talk about Colt McCoy would have been a better option and that was based on what?. How he was playing this year somewhere else?. Glennon sucked but the guy was also getting killed with that offensive line.  Not sure what Colt McCoy would have done much better.

Goes back to McCoy being the mobile QB that was capable of running the offense built around the strengths of Daniel Jones.  Glennon was so bad everyone was looking forward to Jake Fromm.

Joe Judge and Dave Gettleman both thought Mike Glennon was an upgrade over Colt McCoy.

He's right to go back to New England. McDaniels had a similar fate in Denver and he went back and a few years later he's out on his own again. Judge can rehab his image the next few years and try again. He could go the college route also. He's young enough.

Who thought taking an offense that functioned with a mobile QB would work with an immobile QB?  More likely they hoped this is the year Daniel Jones is healthy all season long and that didn't happen either.  I think the only reason why Glennon was considered is Jason Garrett.

  10. Giants normally sign another punter and cut them around the third week of training camp.  I can't see this as some herald to the Giants cutting Riley Dixon just as the Giants re-signing Davis Webb points to the Giants replacing Daniel Jones in September.

  11. Judge dug his own hole and he didn't need any help.  Problems were evident and he had no solutions.  If anyone paid attention to the numerous news conferences the Giants have had over the last twenty years it would be understood that the draft & free agency is handled by consensus and the head coach is just as involved as ownership and the GM.

Should have fired Jason Garrett last January and promoted Freddie Kitchens to Offensive Coordinator.  Pounded the table for the Giants to bring back Colt McCoy last year, that signing should have happened before the start of free agency.

Glad Joe Judge is still in the NFL and hopefully he has learned something from these last two years and he learns more going forward.  His press conferences were bad and just got worse from inability to acknowledge failure to showing up on time for them.  I did appreciate Joe not crying after the game, the free medium soda might have helped.

From what I have read and heard Abrams was a company man.  The long and short of it he was a guy with a title and no real power so to speak.  This is based on my life in those upper management circles.  A lot of politics under the surface with jousts that sometimes become public.  I wish him well and hopefully the Giants right the ship.  He was not good as a potential GM for the Giants and IMHO would need a lot more seasoning to be any teams GM.  Maybe five years from now but definitely not now IMHO.

I think the ship has passed on Kevin Abrams moving up to General Manager.

  13. From what I've read, Brandon Brown sounds like a front office guy who was beginning to have other teams take notice of him.

Abrams got promoted and will most likely have less influence going forward.  I don't believe Abrams has been a problem for the NY Giants in his time being with the team.  I think while he has adapted to current NFL thinking regarding the salary cap, he has not embraced and utilized all the different ways other teams expanded the salary cap.
