I would have liked to have kept him, the offensive line would been better because it was certainly worse after he left. It is unfortunate that injuries have shortened his career. Majority of Giants picks these last ten years didn't have a career in the NFL after their rookie contract was up.

The factor that keeps popping up is high value market teams are at the bottom of that list except for two: 49ers & Cowboys. There is rest and there is making an extra buck.

Yeah I'm ok with disagreeing with Pat on that too. Also note the irony we are complaining about Jones not throwing to his check down while Manning was throwing to his check down. Last season Giants never got all their weapons the field healthy after week 2. Shepard out 4 weeks and he is the check down guy for Jones and he never connected the same way with anyone else (Tate).

Yeah the problem isn't Daniel Jones with pocket awareness or internal clock. There is a reason why the Giants went with getting more weapons this offseason instead of getting better blockers.

Sounds like you really dug in on this draft and spent the time to study a number of guys for each round. I wonder if you were looking at players just based on the position they played over being the best player available. Of all the picks, Brightwell is the one I don't see on the roster in September. Robinson & Williams will see the field this year because it is a passing league and injuries deplete NFL secondary's rapidly as the season progresses. I also expect them to have a role on special teams. Elerson Smith could be taking B.J. Hill's spot this year.

I can understand the thought process behind passing on offensive line talent so far in the draft. We simply don't need another inexperienced player on this offensive line. The offensive line at this point needs time to get gel and each individual needs to grow into their respective position. It has been mentioned earlier there is depth in the draft at OL so is it possible that depth extends past the first three rounds? I don't think that I'll be watching a game this year and wonder why we passed on someone to replace Hernandez or Lemieux. At the end of this season one of them might not be in the long term plans of the team. Odds are pretty good that Toney, Ojulari and Robinson get on the field this year and make an impact on Offense/Defense & special teams.

More likely since there isn't much footage of the players this draft that the Giants are more than happy to trade down for more picks of players who they will have more footage of next year.

Someone check to see if shake is still alive after that second round trade... While we wait on that answer, was reading the NY Post spin on the first round with the Eagles jumping in to snatch Devonta Smith. I'm glad we didn't draft Smith because I honestly would be surprised he plays 16 games any year while he is in the NFL. Guys drop weight during the season and he is already rail thin and I do not think he has the durability to last in the NFL.

Looks like the Cowboys found Sean Lee's replacement. Now I get see how good of a linebacker he will be twice a year. I didn't know what we were getting in Odell Beckham Jr when we drafted him, I can say the same for Kadarius Toney so looking forward to seeing a new and vastly improved offense on the field in September.

Just random thoughts on this draft day and all the drafts I watch before this one. I think the first draft I watched was back in 1994 and the Giants first round pick that year was WR Thomas Lewis. That should have taught me an important lesson about all future drafts: Giants are the most depressing team to follow on draft day. This has held true up until about 2007 which I think could go down as the greatest draft class the NY Giants ever had just on the number players who contributed to the success of the team in the following years. It is one underwhelming pick after another with the exceptions few and far between. Now stretch that out over three days and clearly I should have something better yet still watching... For years we have been overly excited about players we expect the Giants to take, disappointed when they take a guy that leaves us wonder why?! who then turns into the best pick the Giants make that year. For the most part the Giants draft players who wouldn't have been drafted by anyone else in that round, do very little for most of their rookie contract which helps me to understand why NY beat writers are so depressing: these players are not worth writing about, lets write about how bad they are. I'll be back in two hours to see who they pick and everyone's thoughts on that pick. Expectations will be 10 year pro bowler, history tells me otherwise.

The body catching is one of the things that turned me off on Waddle as well and I would compare him to Ted Ginn Jr. Ted Ginn Jr. was a very fast WR taken 9th overall in the first round back in 2007.

Micah Parsons

Then there is Micah Parsons. I don't bother to beat the drum on a half dozen players who the Giants could draft in the first round never mind seven. Micah Parsons is the impact guy we need on the roster especially for the defense. Giants signed one last offseason in Blake Martinez and I think everyone appreciated his production. The character issues are insignificant and have been blown completely out of proportion. He might not be ready to be an immediate impact in coverage, I bet he will make up for that in sacks and stops behind the line in his rookie year.

49ers are a RB by committee team. Everyone gets the ball and it will be interesting to see how Gallman does there. I think the 49ers can get more out of him than the Giants did.

Typical size, Nate Solder would be the biggest guy in the picture if he was there. You can see from his frame he can bulk up another 20 pounds easily. Now the article mentions the draft possibility of Rashawn Slater which I would not be against because it would be a fantastic competition for the starting RT position and we could always shift Slater to RG or he can win the RT spot and keep Peart as the swing tackle.
