  1. It's tough. We probably won't be in a spot to land Caleb Williams. Drake Maye, eh...NC runs a simplistic one read offense where he's not asked to think to much, and I just see him as slow to get through his progressions, not great at reading coverages, quick to pull the ball down and run rather than stand in the pocket and find an open receiver. He's got bust written all over him; he's a lot like DJ "If your first read isn't there, just fucking run for it." Then you have the next tier, Penix, Nix, McCarthy. Penix and Nix are guys that were mehhh on their former teams, but then thrived when transferring into the Pac 10. Tough to say if they genuinely improved or are products of a system, but I like both of these guys better than Maye. Penix seems quicker to get through progressions and read defenses, plus I've seen him through into tight windows at times and make plays, so I guess I give the slight nod to him. His issues though are injuries....two injuries to the same ACL, and a shoulder injury, but he's been healthy the last two years in the Pac 10. That injury history may be enough to drop him to the 2nd round actually, so perhaps Nix is the better solution. Haven't seen enough of McCarthy, but he's a baby that probably needs a year on the bench before being ready. Meanwhile, Nix is a 5th year senior who will be 24. I keep coming back to Nix.
  2. If DJ were on the Ravens, Steelers, Bengals, Colts, Lions, Cowboys, Eagles, Vikings, 49ers, etc we're having a different discussion about Daniel Jones today. These are organizations who believe in offensive lines. The Daboll system was what it was for a reason "If your first read isn't there, just fucking run for it"
  3. Jones and Saquon actually have talent and potential to be good, but were squandered by being here. Is there any other QB and RB drafted in the top 10 we can really say about that? As in they're actually good players, not busts, but just went to terrible terrible organizations who squandered them.
  4. The organizations (Maras and Tisch's) really owe Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley an apology for ruining their careers, most notably with putrid OL's year after year. Imagine if these two were on competent franchises, and what they could have done elsewhere. At least to this point for these two, who may go on to do great things elsewhere.
  5. We probably won't be in a position to land Williams or Maye, but we should be above the Pats in the draft order, to get Penix, McCarthy, or Nix.
  6. And forget the Evan Neal experiment. He's a dud. Keep him around to compete for a backup spot at guard or something but you don't go in to 2024 expecting him to start anywhere on the OL. Backup G at best at this point.
  7. If it's as bad as rumor suggest, he's not getting back until November 2024, which means the Giants are definitely going to be looking at other options at QB, most likely through the draft. Just take the $40M in cap space and the giants three 1st-2nd round picks. That gives us 6-7 premium moves. Take a top QB with in the 1st (Penix looked good on Saturday, and there's also Bo Nix...5th year guys who can probably come in right away), and use the rest of the assets on the OL and DL respectively. 3 to 4 OL, 2 DL, and a QB. Use the mid-late round picks and lower tier FA's elsewhere (WR, DB, RB). Also bring in a backup QB like Gardner Minshew. Dude's a freakin baller over there for Indy, who at least makes the offense competent.
  8. Was DJ injured on a sack or scramble? I can't recall from the broadcast. I remember he tried going back out there for another snap, only to fall down.
  9. I don't think it's that complicated. If we draft a QB, Jones will be around for one more year until we can cut him with cap savings in 2025. At this rate he'll likely be a backup.
  10. I didn't watch the game. I was driving and listening on the radio. So multiple times during the game, Carl Banks and Bob Papa insisted that the Giants offensive line wasn't doing that bad, after two of which times they said it was followed by a sack, another followed with a Devito scramble for a couple yards 🤦‍♂️. All in all 8 sacks on the day.
  11. Daniel Jones totally scammed the Giants into a $160M contract
  12. Fair enough. Looking ahead: By my count, with $40M in cap space this off-season and 3 draft picks in the top 50-55, that's enough for 6-7 key moves. Take one of the top QBs with the first round draft pick, then use the other 5-6 assets on OL and DL.
  13. Giants won me $70 bucks today. Yeah they might have ruined DJ's career, but I'll have a few sushi days the next couple weeks now. At least he produced something...for me.
  14. Daboll and co are giving McAdoo a run for the money in trying to coach your way out of a job via mishandling the QB situation. Meanwhile, today has strong 2017 vibes of that game vs the hapless 49ers where CJ Beathard and the horrible niners clowned us.
  15. I took the under 37.5 on today's game, and the Raiders at -1.5. I wish there was an over under on when DJ gets knocked out of the game: 2nd quarter I'd bet.
  16. Soooo get ready for Tommy Devito again, and 29 runs in the 2nd half.
  17. Because the OL sucked in both instances, and in the case of the Jets, that QB was in the game because the previous one got hurt running for his life, after the QB before him in a prior game got crushed because of an incompetent OL.
  18. I'm speaking about the two specific games where we averaged less than 10 pts.
  19. If the O line was competent, you're not in a position where one decision or FG makes it breaks the game.
  20. A competent OL gets you the wins vs the Bills and Jets, plus makes you competitive and likely to win vs the Raiders, plus in general means your scoring more points in general. A competent OL means you're looking at possibly 7-5 or 6-6 heading into the bye. Not great, but not terrible. 3 of the next 4 games really SHOULD be wins if the team just had an OL. Barkley is averaging 3.7 yards per carry. That's not anything special. That can be easily replaced. At best they're an 8-10 win team with a competent OL. Without one, and with one this putrid OL well maybe 4-6 is what we're looking at.
  21. We wouldn't have the worst scoring team offense in 57 years if we had 3 or 4 functional offensive lineman going into the season, and we'd very likely be 4-4, going on 5-4 after this weekend. Plus we wouldn't be getting embarrassed on prime time.
  22. Hope and wishful thinking work when you have 3-4 rock solid proven guys on the line, and are only using wishful thinking on 1-2 others. For instance, JMS would have been much better suited if he were flanked by two capable guards, not the trash we have now.
  23. Other than a slow 2 weeks to start the season, can't really complain.
