  1. Elsewhere: G Kevin Zeitler: $5.2M cap hit, PFF rating 68.9 G Will Hernandez: $5.3M, PFF 64.4 G/C Nick Gates: $3.3M PFF 60.6 T Cam Fleming (2022): $2.3M PFF 72.6 So if we had two or three of these guys, compared to the below, we'd basically have an average offensive line, instead of an abysmal offensive line, for less than $14M. Compared to current Giants (PFF): Bredeson: 43.6 McKethan: 46.1 JMS: 49.4 Phillips: 52.9 Pugh: 49.6 Neal: 39.8 Peart: 35.8 Somehow Glowinski is at a PFF of 64, despite giving up 6 sacks.
  2. Barkley owes it to himself to go off and sign with a competent organization, who believes in offensive lines, and can utilize him properly. Ravens, Chiefs, Bengals, etc.
  3. You might be right, especially with the QB crisis in the NFL.
  4. I personally don't want Tyrod as the backup. He's been far too injury prone to be reliable, and for that same money is better spent on Minshew.
  5. Yes, and to me this is all the more reason to definitely NOT resign Barkley, assuming Barkley's cap hit will be like $8M plus. Give me a gamer like Minshew for 2 years $12M, or 3 years $20M. Even if we draft a QB, you then have a solid backup and plan B in case the draft pick doesn't work out. Edit: Take a RB in round 4, and/or bring in a cheap vet RB like D'Onta Foreman, Edwards-Helaire, Damien Harris, Cam Akers, etc. We won't need to be spending any more than $6M or $7M (in total, for all RBs) at the RB position.
  6. Also in either of these scenarios, I think we also need to bring in a veteran QB like Minshew or Mayfield, since DJ likely won't be ready until the start of November 2024 at best.
  7. There seems to be a cadre of giant fans on Facebook, Twitter, etc who seem to believe that there's no way to address the OL, unless we draft an OL with our top 5 pick in the 1st round. They're frothing at the mouth and crying about the idea of drafting a QB with our top 5 pick, and acting like the OL will be bad again specifically because we might not use that pick on an OL. Apparently, they're not aware of things called free agency, rounds 2-7 of the draft, trades, etc. I mean, it's fine if you want that pick to be OL...I get it and that's perfectly fair, but the idea that the integrity of our OL hinges on one draft pick in next years draft is a fucking joke.
  8. Alright. Seriously not joking with this one. Just went to the Doctor for my annual physical. It was a new doctor since my old one moved away recently. He's a giants fan. The problem is he says he thinks Tommy Devito is a good QB, who the giants need to give a shot to next year. As far as I can tell, they aren't related. Should I look for a new Doctor? I don't know how I can trust someone who thinks Devito is the future Giants QB.
  9. I knew Bredeson and Glowinski were backups at best. JMS, Ezeudu, and Neal were unproven, and therefore question marks. Moral of the story. Don't go into the season leaving 4 out of 5 OL spots to wishful thinking. You can get away with 1 out of 5 of those, and maybe 2 out of 5, if all the other OL positions are solid.
  10. They went into the season with question marks at 4 out of 5 starting positions, and instead allocated $25M to Barkley, Leonard Williams, and Paris Campbell 🤷‍♂️. You're free to be content with this approach. How'd it go?
  11. So far through year 2, there's no indication yet that we have a front office and coaching staff interested in a functional OL. I realize they drafted JMS this year, three picks plus Glowinski last year. JMS this year, but that wasn't enough; the picks last year are all busts, Glowinski stinks, so does Bredeson, and JMS is playing like a rookie. The offensive line is bad because the current front office refused to do enough when they could have. They instead decided it was better to use $25M in cap to have Barkley, Campbell and Williams on the roster, instead of investing in an OL.
  12. It takes a front office seriously interested in prioritizing it, which they currently don't have. Going into the season with question marks at 4 out of 5 positions on the OL was a choice. Allocating $25M in cap to Barkley, Leonard Williams, and Paris Campbell, instead of the OL, was a choice. The offensive line is bad because the current front office refused to do enough when they could have.
  13. That was a dumb call that only benefited the defense by offsetting.
  14. The Giants offense this year has scored 94 points total through 7 1/2 games. The cowboys have scored 68 points in 1 1/2 games vs the Giants this year. 26 more to go to be even or ahead of the Giants. Cowboys might fucking pull it off.
  15. It's amazing how you get other teams with 3rd string caliber QBs, such as the hapless Bears with an undrafted rookie or PJ Walker, and they all move the ball 10,000x better than the Giants.
  16. Manning won't be eligible for the draft until 2026. If we miss on a QB in 2024, we can still draft him. Jones won't be ready by the start of 2024 either. We can address other positions and QB too.
  17. I probably watched the wrong two Drake May games this year, lol, so take what I said with a grain of salt. If he has anything going for him, his predecessor Sam Howell has been decent considering the circumstances, that this is basically his inaugural year, and he's playing with a shit OL. He's had his ups and downs but he could be something if they put an OL in front of him. Maye's style of play seems similar.
  18. I'd be fine with that and bringing in Gardner Minshew. Sign him to a 3 year $18M contract or something, and let him be your QB1 next year, then quality backup the next two years. The dude is a baller.
  19. It's tough. We probably won't be in a spot to land Caleb Williams. Drake Maye, eh...NC runs a simplistic one read offense where he's not asked to think to much, and I just see him as slow to get through his progressions, not great at reading coverages, quick to pull the ball down and run rather than stand in the pocket and find an open receiver. He's got bust written all over him; he's a lot like DJ "If your first read isn't there, just fucking run for it." Then you have the next tier, Penix, Nix, McCarthy. Penix and Nix are guys that were mehhh on their former teams, but then thrived when transferring into the Pac 10. Tough to say if they genuinely improved or are products of a system, but I like both of these guys better than Maye. Penix seems quicker to get through progressions and read defenses, plus I've seen him through into tight windows at times and make plays, so I guess I give the slight nod to him. His issues though are injuries....two injuries to the same ACL, and a shoulder injury, but he's been healthy the last two years in the Pac 10. That injury history may be enough to drop him to the 2nd round actually, so perhaps Nix is the better solution. Haven't seen enough of McCarthy, but he's a baby that probably needs a year on the bench before being ready. Meanwhile, Nix is a 5th year senior who will be 24. I keep coming back to Nix.
  20. If DJ were on the Ravens, Steelers, Bengals, Colts, Lions, Cowboys, Eagles, Vikings, 49ers, etc we're having a different discussion about Daniel Jones today. These are organizations who believe in offensive lines. The Daboll system was what it was for a reason "If your first read isn't there, just fucking run for it"
  21. Jones and Saquon actually have talent and potential to be good, but were squandered by being here. Is there any other QB and RB drafted in the top 10 we can really say about that? As in they're actually good players, not busts, but just went to terrible terrible organizations who squandered them.
  22. The organizations (Maras and Tisch's) really owe Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley an apology for ruining their careers, most notably with putrid OL's year after year. Imagine if these two were on competent franchises, and what they could have done elsewhere. At least to this point for these two, who may go on to do great things elsewhere.
