Where are you R.A. and M.B.?

Recommended Posts

Where is Raul Allegre (Giants 86-87 season) and Matt Bahr (90-91 season) when you need them? I would take either of these AARP candidates over Jay Feehly any day. You have, must, cannot miss a 33 yard field goal in a game like this. Benedict Arnold (excuse Bill Parcells) would have chewed up Raul and/or Matt if they choked like this. My God can't these guys be ringed up so they can give this creep some pointers on how to kick in Giants Stadium. The punter actually has it down to a science on how to kick in our stadium...but this guy, sheesh. The butt tightens up the minute I see him go onto the field knowing that it is probably 50/50 that he will blow it. :furious:

I have zero confidence in him since last years Seattle game. R A was always on the money even if it was a 50+ yarder. M B was a can't miss as long as it was within reasonable range.

<_< Is there anything less than zero confidence. Whenever I see that guy go on the field, I try to calculate the odds of a successful 4th down pass, run, drop kick (lol), anything but that butt munches skewed kicks. Just think how different it would have been if he had made just one of those freaking kicks.

Our kicking game hasn't been the same since Brad Daluiso got hurt on that Monday night game against Dallas.

Yeah you are right. I forgot about Brad. What happened to him again; did he have to make a suicide tackle against an opponent where he tore ligaments or something. Or was his leg so overworked that it just gave out on him?

Everytime I see Feely on the field about to kick, my nuts start aching. What are the chances that he'll be replaced in the off season. The guy just isn't clutch.

I don't know if they will replace him. The Giants brain trust loves him because he owns (ed) up to his choke in Seattle and subsequent chokes against other teams. The Giants love gentlemen. But its like that stupid screening test that we used to use. Everyone else drafts the crack abusing homocidal maniacs and win; whereas we show the league what a good bunch of gentlemen we are and lose quite often because of our moral superiority. :flex:

Not that this is relevant but I came very close to kicking for the Giants in 2002. I have been playing soccer growning up and during pre-game warm ups in CT I nailed 50 yarders on a regular basis... I even nailed a 59 yarder.

It just wasn't meant to be.

Feely is pretty accurate inside the 45. that 52 yarder was perfect if it was a 45 yarder. if the line of scrimmage is outside the 30, they shouldn't even consider a field goal unless its end of half, end of game.

:P

The thing is even though I was unemployed at the time, I didn't care about the RFA minimum.. which is a lot anyway... The mere thought of playing for my beloved Giants alone was great. I woke up that day at 4 AM and drove all the way to Albany... damn special teams coach. :furious:

I hear you....also there is a shortage of big time clutch kickers these days. It seems that there is a dilution of good talent these days. Or is it another side effect of free-agency?

Too bad NAS we could have used you. Didn't they go with the hard ware store guy (Bryant) instead?

Yes. I knew I could beat him I just never got the chance to meet the SP teams coach at the time. Amani Toomer stopped by as they broke for lunch and had a 15 minute coversation with me.. he wished me luck. In that 90 degree + heat, I was kicking in front of the fans and they were encouraging me... 2 children came to me asking me for autogragh :) .. I told them I wasn't on the team yet and one of them responded "yeah but we believe in you" lol.

Basically after waking up early, driving 6 hours and kicking for hours on a hot day.. I was out of it in the afternoon and I lost hope of ever getting the chance to speak the SP teams coach..let alone try out. I got back in my car at about 3 pm and drove home :(

I was thinking the same thing....no fresh blood from Europe, Latin America, Africa or Asia in terms of soccer style kickers...its mostly home-growns from college these days. Its a lot like pot growing I guess. It took a while before the hydroponics guys could come up with a superior crop to replace all the interdicted stuff back in the 80's, lol.

He had to make a tackle and tore up his knee like you said.

Thats cool Nas 9iread your other reply also). Too bad. it would have been awesome to have a member of the board on the Giants.

I guess the coaches didn't want you fattening up the players with hot dogs and slushies.

I'm a decent FG kicker too, I've never played soccer or kicked for a team (played DT), but since i was a kid I loved kicking FG's. Growing up i entertained myself in 2 ways. Pitching a baseball using the outside of our fireplace as the catcher (had some nasty breaking pitches back then) and kicking FG's using the telephone line as the uprights.

I always had a very strong leg, i could nail em beyond 50 yards but i wasn't consistant. I'd shank probly half my kicks.

You are right up there with Feehly my friend....maybe you should take a little trip north on I-95 for a tryout. :TU:
