I can’t help but by optimistic

I dont know how you can look at this team and think they arent better than the Redskins and the Cowboys. I just cant fathom it. The team is young, fast, and is being built with a vision. The offensive line and defensive line are being built with a vision. They have a plan at Qb For the future. They have better skill position players than the Redskins and Cowboys. Its going to depend on Elis play, once again, but I think the line is infinitely better than what he has had for the past 4 years. Maybe Im crazy but I think this is a Giants and Eagles competition with the wild card being the Cowboys defense.

The Giants weakness is going to be the same as last year the defense.

I don't see this team putting up massive numbers on offense and I doubt the defense can keep games close.

However in a year or two with the rookies on the team having hopefully developed into starters we may very well have a top 10 defense to match the offense.

I think this offense is going to be really good. With of course Barkley being the X factor. First half of the season the D is gonna have some growing pains, but should be much improved by the second half. I don't know if it will be enough to get a wild card, but even if not, this year will be at least a big step towards dominance on both sides of the ball for next year. I just hope they don't go blowing all that upcoming cash on a Eli extension.

I will say though its pretty obvious seeing a young QB vs a vet QB.

Jones kept his eyes downfield when sitting in the pocket, Eli the last few years pretty much gives up on anything down field after the first look and then goes to his check down typically the TE or RB.

Sure it makes for less risky passes but fuck has it been mind numbing watching Eli dink and dunk.

Big Stones Jones just wants to sling it.

but to Eli's defense, sometimes he has had zero time to throw. The line has been terrible the last few years

I only watched the Jones drive but it's hard not to be impressed. Great placement on every pass.

Its his feet ....watch his ball fakes..... dude is super polished. His teammates were jerking off all over themselves after the game about how good he is going to be.

C Wagon.

Here's what I thought was funny about the whole draft bologna about Jones.

He's on the worst team any of the first round QBs were on, Murray and Haskins both had multiple O teammates get drafted in the first three rounds.

Jones didnt have a SINGLE teammate drafted into the NFL.

Despite this fact Jones STILL had a second to first round grade on him by multiple teams/scouts/mock drafts.

You're telling me a QB who didnt have a single fellow college teammate drafted into the NFL is still getting a second round grade? That's insane. It basically means he's earning everything on his own with no help from any NFL calibre talent.

But yet the moment he's drafted its "HURR DEE DURR IT WAS A REACH CAUSE HE DIDNT PERFORM IN COLLEGE"

The fact that the kid carried a team full of no bodies to even any wins is NFL performance alone.

The game sample you are using is very very small and Jones was facing the second team defense with the first string offense. It's ok to want Jones in there now over Manning.

that was my first impression because they said on the broadcast that the Jets had brought in the defensive second team, but it was actually Jones and six or seven 1st string players (OL + Tate, sometimes Ellison) against five or six Jets 1st team defensive players, so it was a reasonable but slightly advantageous matchup, not a lop sided first team vs. second team matchup.

But on that TD pass, if its Jamal Adams back there instead of a backup safety, that's probably not where that ball would have gone, or if it had it wouldn't have been a completion unless he led the receiver by a couple more feet. Not going to fault Jones for throwing past a defensive player with his back turned to the play though.

I will say that I lack any confidence that any of these wide receivers can be X and Y. Theyre all slot, possession guys, in my book. Im not seeing any chance that any of them can create separation. There will be limited options to throw to. They might be able to move the chains and rely on big gains from Barkley on extended drives, though. Engram is going to have to have a huge year.

If teams like NE and even that Rams have shown you really don't need positional WRs anymore just a QB and coordinator who can identify the mismatches and throw the ball there.

There's a reason why teams with primary #1 WRs don't seem to make it far in the playoffs, when they get shut down the entire game plan goes to shit.

Better to make a game plan where every WR can run every route on the field with success so you don't have to worry about just one guy getting shut down

I agree... I was impressed by how was able to run the offense and score TD. Now lets see how he acts when he gets punched in the face.

I dont think thats gonna be an issue. The kid stood and took many hits while delivering some nice passes in college. Hopefully he wont have to prove himself to much in that department though lol

When we won both recent SB Im sure everyone has the same feeling about our offense, its decent but nothing to write home about and I always think thats the advantage we have. But during those two SB we always knew our defense is solid. Going into this season, I dont feel comfortable about our defense. Bunch of young guys that will be good in the future, near contract time. Im hoping for a playoff but thats it.

I kinda wish the GMB was around still just to see the hundreds upon hundreds of "Start Jones" threads that would of been made these this past week.

After 5 pre season passes lol

Why? ESPN has that covered.
