Are the Yankees getting snubbed?

First Cliff Lee goes to the Texans and now Danny Haren goes to the Angels.

I've heard whispers that GM's don't want to be the ones to make the Yankees stronger.

Frankly I'm all for this. If they can't win with this team, tough.

Is there any starting pitching prospects left? We'll see by next week.

Is Haren anything even worth worrying over though? 4.7 ERA...oh wow the Yanks really missed out on him.

Not only has he sucked this year but he has another 2 years or so on his contract. With Cliff Lee available this FA season does it make sense trading for a SP that would tie up a spot for the next two years? And for a guy who had a brief stretch of goodness and is currently a mediocre pitcher?

Of course the Yanks are being snubbed. The team that spends the most in free agency will of course be exptected to spend the most in trades. But there is no reason to spend the farm on a guy with a 4.6+ ERA, and ERA that has been growing with each year, and two more years on his contract.

Haren would be your # 2 or 3 starter in the playoffs if they started today, depending on petite. He gives up a lot of homers but he's a great pitcher. Besides, your opinion wasn't shared by Yankee brass- they wanted him and they wanted Lee.

im no expert but haren is traditionally fast out of the gates when the season starts but starts to suck in the second half. with the season he's had so far and his history i'd be scared to bring him to my american league team

agreed..haren is awful in the second half..imagine how bad he would be in the AL Beast? Im glad we didnt get him...however, I think the yankees will need a starting pitcher. I wouldnt be mad at bringing Ted Lilly back. But I heard the Cubs are asking a lot and I wouldnt give much up for Lilly. Oswalt is the guy I would like the most, but the Astors GM is completely insane and the Yankees hate him. Im not sure they will get something done.

Jake Westbrook is also available, but Im not sure he is much better than Mitre.

Roy Oswalt is available but he wants the team to pick up the option year at 16 mill. So he would cost about 30 mill for 2 years. Chump change for the Yanks.

yes, it is chump change, but he is not worth that much money..he is still a good pitcher, but he is the not close to the roy oswalt of 2002-2007....and coming from the nAAAAtional league central to the AL Beast will certainly inflate his overall numbers.

your prejudice is stopping you from having real baseball knowledge. everyone (except the yankees) realize that this is becoming a pitcher dominated era and the NL has the best arms.( evident in the All Star Game) come on hugh, you're becoming al davis.

the all star game? an exhibition game where pitchers go one or one third of an inning and air it out? The AL pitchers were just as good..a first year starter(Hughes) gave up a ground ball that found a hole and a bloop, then girardi decided not to bring in one of the worst ptichers on his roster to face mccann. I agree its becoming a pitchers league overall...with that said......

the fact is that its much easier to pitch in the NL than the AL...Im sure every pitcher would agree.

for now. depends if you're a CC who gets a win while giving up 6 runs or a zito who gives up 1 and gets a no decision or a L. much more competitive games in the big N.

Josh Johnson would dominate either league. That guy has electric stuff, it's a pleasure to watch him pitch.
