Giants officially locked in to win ten games at a minimum, make playoffs.

Much like the last few seasons I never had expectations the Giants would reach the playoffs after the 2011 SB run.

Team is in rebuild mode, all I want to see this season is progress.

Show me a LB core that can run with current NFL RBs/TEs

Show me a Dline that can stop a RB and get to a QB

Show me a O-line that has had some time to get in sync

If the Giants have a winning season and make the playoffs great, something to cap the season off, but honestly I just want to see the team is getting better in some way, from the coaching to player development, and the rookies and FA players brought in.

My honest prediction is the Giants dont make it back into the playoffs for another two seasons, still a lot of holes to fill and with an aging QB and a rookie HC, I just think it will take another few years before the Gints get there.

Probably a new GM in that time as well.

Fucking rebuilding mode? With a QB near end of his prime?? Doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, we are in trouble, as fans, if blue's prediction comes to fruition. If we aren't making the playoffs within the next two years, there's a good chance we aren't making the playoffs for the next ten years...unless Eli pulls a run out of his ass as a nearing retirement QB

Well that was funny to read and I particularly liked the pass rush breakdown. Overall we are looking better on paper this year and there is plenty to look forward to. I expected a 10-6 season from Coughlin yearly so let us see what happens under McAdoo.

Giants fans should go into every year with this in mind:

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments. It is also sometimes colloquially used to doubt statistics used to prove an opponent's point.

I could emphasize it more but you should get it.

I go into every season hoping the Giants go 16-0, everyone here does as a fan.

The Giants could easily pull off some SB magic of '07, I mean if Eli has proven anything it's that when you get him into the playoffs he will carry the team to a SB.

I just don't have that expectation, I want to see progress I want to see change, a new HC means the team should be heading in a new direction (according to JR throwing Coughlin under the bus).

I'd fully take a couple seasons of 9-6 just barely missing the playoffs with some solid building in the draft and FA to push the team into playoff contention, if that meant for the next four, five, six years after that the Giants were heading to the NFC Championship game every year.

Right now the Giants could become the next Miami Dolphins, or the next perennial playoff team.

These next couple of seasons will determine that.

I think they'll be good by 2018, maybe 2017 and I complain about the Apple pick because he won't contribute immediately, but in reality all drafts are about the future and DRC is one of the older guys on defense. The free agents they signed are all on their second contract only and Vernon is only 25. They just seem to be wasting Eli's final years by being halfway between good and total rebuild. I can imagine a QB at some point in the next two drafts. Maybe they'll be bad enough to get Josh Rosen or Max Browne in the 2018 draft. We'll still watch and root as fans no matter what they are

I've gone on record saying I don't think Eli finishes his career in Giant's blue.

I think the Giants move on from the Eli/JR era if the next few seasons are complete failures in any terms of progression or results, which may likely happen with a rookie HC and journeyman DC.

Any new GM isnt going to want a 36+ year old QB eating up 20 million in cap space, he'll want his own guy.

Weird to think that this era of Giants football is basically over and a whole new era is beginning...let's hope it's more Coughlin than Handley.

you say that as if QB's are so plentiful. Unless they have an Andrew Luck replcement, GM's will hold on to QB's like Eli with a death grip.
