Nas Posted May 9, 2016 Share Posted May 9, 2016 This noise is about nothing... the 2 guys the Giants allegedly coveted were taken before the Giants could pick.... so what's the problem? Should the Giants have moved up and given up draft picks to do so? No of course... should the Giants have traded down with the Jets as was rumored... sure... but the Jets were low-balling them... so no (although an additional 2nd rounder was nothing to sneeze at). Hindsight is 20/20... if it was up to me (easy for me to say after the fact) I would have traded with the Jets and got at least their 2nd rounder (if not get an additional pick be it 5th or 6th since they weren't willing to give up their 4th)... drafted the BPA at 20 like Lawson or even Apple if he's still there etc... drafted Sheppard exactly where we drafted him and used the 2nd pick from the Jets and say that 5th from the Jets plus another pick to move up to snatch Myles Jack... Maybe not for his first two years and everything that they talked about leading into the draft was finding an immediate impact player. If they were going to redshirt a guy I would of went Lawson to take JPP's place in 2017 and rotate in this year. They should of taken Tunsil and then traded him to the Jets for Lee. With that extra 2nd they could of gotten their RT or DE or you take the S/CB at that spot. I agree especially when it comes to Apple... it's a passing league and a 3rd cb is essential and sees robust playing time.... That will be Spagnuolo's problem to solve and he is excellent at solving these problems. Back in 2007 he had too many pass rushing defensive ends.
