Should the Yankees trade for Alfonso Soriano?

Fine, if it's that important to you, the point is their lineup helped pitchers at the downside of their career.

Im pretty sure that the Yankees impeccable defense in those days helped the pitchers more than the offense. The yankees had plus defenders at every posisition in those days.

they had a solid line up, but make no mistake, those yankee teams were built on good pitching and incredible defense

Knoblauch couldn't throw the ball to first base. Brocious was no prize at 3rd. Jeter and Bernie were great fielders. Tino too.

O'Neilwas ok, but right field in Yankee Stadium, yawn.

knoblauchs throwing woes didnt come to light until after 1999, before that he was very good. Brosius was a stud at 3b..I dont know where youre getting he was no prize there...it was for his defense that the yankees went and got him. he was know as a bad bat, good glove 3rd baseman. it was a peasant surprise he hit as well as he did with the yankees. they had plus defenders at every position.

this cant even be debated, the yankees were a great defensive team.

The powerhouse lineup helped a little, don't you think?

Doesn't hurt.....not a bit...but even then...in both the late 70['s and late 90's....they had vet pitchers in the 3 and 4 spots who could get you a good 6 to 7 every start...that would get you to Tidrow and then Davis/Goose/Sparky (7os) or get you to Mandoza/Gordon to Wetland/Rivera.

They also had real solid Defense on those teams .not spectacular...just really fundementally sound.....and excellent role players off he bench.

loosk like its a done deal.

I have no idea what the yankees are doing..if they were willing to spend/take on money..why didnt they do it in the offseason when productctive players were available...or just resigned swisher and martin..who are by eons better than the guys the yankees currently have playing their posistions.

this team is becoming a complete side show...its getting embarrassing.
