MakeMeSomeFoodHo
basically said they dont care about winning and that he has no idea why he is still there and that he cant wait to become a FA so he can sign with a team that cares about winning
Herc
his day will come when he can sign with whatever team he wants, he didn't HAVE to give his first year (or whatever) of free agency away. he knew what he signed up for when he signed that deal

If Im the Yankees I dont do it. Guy will be a FA after next season, no need to give away Hughes when you can wait a year and have both. I dont think there is any way that he doesnt see free agency. Guy will get a 200 million deal easily
Virginia Giant
With the money saved from trading Tex there is no way Sanatana should not be a Ranger after next year. Maybe we even sign Hunter this offseason so there is familiarity for Johan. Of course, the Twins have been more dedicated to winning than the Rangers, so Santana might not want to go there either. Herc
i think the yes network sale is a precursor to the yanks being sold. steinbrenner isn't doing well and for wahtever reason it's going underreported by the ny media

Virginia Giant
Unless of course Mark Cuban buys the Yanks... maybe, but unless he's getting Yes packaged into it he still won't be able to spend like they yanks normally do. i thought cuban was buying the cubs- (i still loved seeing him sulk all through the GSW playoff series- guy has a great pout face) yeah, I heard he was trying to buy the Cubbies, if we're lucky he'll wanna keep it in Texas and make pricks, I mean hicks and offer he can't refuse. You dont think the Yanks gain enough revenue by themselves? They're the top merchandised team of any sport. YES loss would dent them, but I dont think it'll put them in Royals territory. Besides, this is just a dream of Cuban owning them if they do sell, but Cuban is a savy business guy. He'll find something else to gain more. Of course, he is after the Cubbies, but who in their right mind would not want to own the Yanks? Of course, you could also throw the Donald in the mix too. Yes is worth more than double than what the yanks are worth, it would do more than dent them. I never said the yanks would have no money like the Royals, they just won't have like 6 of the 10 highest paid players in the game. The Yanks will always have money, more than any other team probly, but God forbid they may have a budget in the future.

I'm not sure how it breaks down,(the business classes are paying off :brooding: )but George only owns 36% of YES Network. So it's not going to collapse them when he sells the rest off. so-cal dub
For now geirge owns 36 %, what happens when the kids take over? I dont think the Kids want to take over. That's why I think he's selling it off. There are a few theories, which when I find them I'll post them for you. Indeed, selling YES could well be part of a long-term plan to keep the Yankees in the Steinbrenner family. The windfall from YES, of which the Yanks own 36 percent, would provide a cushion to pay off any future estate taxes as well as provide the money needed to sign expensive free agents, pay draft picks and otherwise run a business heavy on fixed costs. "The reason they're cashing out is in very large part so they'll have enough cash to continue to own the team," says one source. Even so, there remains speculation among the Yankees limited partners and other baseball insiders that Hal is simply echoing the wishes of an ailing father - that the Steinbrenners do not intend on keeping the team long term. The topic of a sale "comes up all the time" in conversations with the other partners, says Yanks minority owner Edward Rosenthal, a retired steel executive. Adds another Yankees limited partner: "If I were handicapping it, I think we're looking at a sale of the team within three or four years."

I'm just trying to get you riled up, even though I'm not a fan of the Yankees, I love George as an owner, i always felt he was good for Baseball, too many teams refuse to spend money, even my Rangers have lost the check book and they play ina huge market. You know, dont sell it to some kid who'll run it into the ground but someone with class who will baby it like they did.
xxi-xxv
The Dolans want out of the cable business here in the NY metro area. They want to run networks(like their MSG) and own the Garden and its teams. They are losing their shirts in the cable business in NY as people now have morfe choices and they know that they cannot compete. ALl kidding aside do not be surprised one bit of the Dolans buy the YES network. If this happens every Yankee fan should be scared shitless if they ever bought the Yanks. xxi-xxv
Believe me, I already am. I hate the Dolans, the way they do business and what they have done to the Garden. On a more serious note they treat their cablevision employees like shit, non-quality shoddy work is the norm and accepted by that company for in turn low paying wages and bennys.
