NFL Nation: 2014 Regular-Season Predictions

NFL Nation reporters predict the regular-season record for the team they cover. Each prediction was made independent of the predictions of their colleagues.

Team Prediction Quick Take NFC EAST

Until proved otherwise, it's hard to predict anything but .500 for the Cowboys, but the back end of the schedule is difficult. If they miss the playoffs for the fifth straight season, it's hard to imagine Jerry Jones would bring back Jason Garrett, whose contract expires after this season, in 2015. -- Todd Archer

The NFC East once again looks like a tightly bunched mess, so give the Giants a 3-3 division record by default. After that, it helps that so many 2013 powers (San Francisco, Indianapolis, even Arizona) come to New Jersey, while less-proven opponents such as Jacksonville and Tennessee are road games. Their Thursday night game is a short road trip to Washington (which is good), and their toughest game is a short-week road trip to Seattle to play the defending Super Bowl champs (which is rough). -- Dan Graziano

The loss of wide receiver DeSean Jackson shouldn't be underestimated. Without his 1,300-plus yards and downfield speed, the Eagles should still finish with a winning record under dynamic coach Chip Kelly. But with games against the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and No. 2 NFC playoff seed Carolina Panthers, the path to that winning mark will be more difficult. -- Andy Jasner

The Redskins have question marks: How will Jay Gruden fare as a first-time head coach? How much better will Robert Griffin III be this season? But Griffin's offseason has been good and he has more offensive weapons. Plus, the division is not strong. Defensively, the Redskins still face serious questions, but an improved pass rush should help, as will facing fewer elite quarterbacks. -- John Keim

no mention by superstar beat reporter that we're playing the best division in many years

Let's see .. The Seahawks got our #... We got the 9ers #.... Who else AZ and STL? Split? I'm far more confident about our team this upcoming season than last.

there are two gimmies there: houston and jacksonville. the entire nfc west could easily be better than us. maybe we beat atlanta, they're kind of going through what we are going through

I wish you hadn't said that.......
