Expectations for 2014?

I don't know on this one. Still not really thrilled with this lineup. I think the bullpen and starting pitching is shaping up fine but I am very worried about the infield. I hope they aren't going to rely on Tejada all year at short and please no on Drew. How about first base? God, the Davis/Duda rotation is going to be painful to watch.

Ok...it's August.

The Mutts are a much improved team and if they had one or two more bats they would be very close to owning the division.

Starting pitching and bullpen and really doing the job

Having watched the last 4 games, they still have a ways to go. But the NL East is there for the taking.

I'm curious of what you think of Jacob DeGrom.

That;s the kid that beat the Giants right? He looked strong. Giants don't do well against pitchers they don't know. I guess that speaks to their scouting. But he's looked solid all year, which is impressive considering there are mistakes happening around him.

79-83, not as a horrible season as I thought it would be. I think they are on the right track and a lot of building blocks have been placed. If they can get a little more hitting, than they can win maybe 10-15 more games next year. Starting pitching is going to be beastly next year and even the pen is looking very strong. The Mets were very enjoyable to watch the last few months. Still hate the Wilpons and they need to go.

The Wilpons are definitely the part holding them back. But they have powerful political and rich allies. It would take a Bill Gates level of Billionaire to be able to pry this team loose from these bastards I am afraid. I hope I'm wrong...but if the Mets succeed it will be despite them ...not because of them. The best chance we had for new ownership went up in smoke when the case against the Ponzi Scheme Guy turned away from getting full restitution for the smaller players hurt by him rather than in protecting big earners like the Wilpons... I am so sorry Doubleday sold his interest...imagine a family member of the founder of American Baseball up against the Wilpons once this scandal hit... They would have been asked to step aside for the good of baseball in general and National League baseball in the City as represented by the Mets. :TD:

David Wright has shown to me that he shouldn't be counted on as the #3 hitter in the lineup. Dare I say that the lineup / offense looked better with Murph at 3rd? Wouldn't it be something if they could have Flores at second and Herrera at short? The kids can hit. Wright is in serious decline, I'm afraid, and if they go into 2015 counting on him yet again to anchor that lineup, I think more disappointment will be in our future, no matter how good the pitching is.
