EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants today placed tight end Daniel Fells on season-ending injured reserve and signed wide receiver Myles White off their practice squad.

Fells, who played in two games and caught six passes this season, is being treated for an infection in his ankle.

White, 6-0 and 182 pounds, was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 9. He played in seven games for the Green Bay Packers in 2013, when he caught nine passes for 66 yards, including five for 35 yards against Minnesota on Oct. 27. He suffered a knee injury in Week 14 vs. Atlanta and was placed on injured reserve.

White spent the first six weeks of the 2013 season and entire 2014 season on the Packers’ practice squad.

White played in all four preseason games for Green Bay this summer. He led the team with 16 receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns. White had nine catches vs. Philadelphia on Aug. 20 and scored two touchdowns against New Orleans in the finale.

In two seasons at Louisiana Tech, White played in 22 games with eight starts, and caught 86 passes for 1,132 yards and nine touchdowns. He started his collegiate career at Northwest Mississippi Community College.

*The Giants signed tight end Dominique Jones of Shepherd University and re-signed wide receiver Julian Talley to the practice squad.

Jones, 6-2 and 270 pounds, has played in 13 regular-season games with three starts for Indianapolis, Denver and Kansas City. He has three receptions for 42 yards, with a long catch of 21 yards.

In 2014, he played in one game for the Broncos, but did not have a catch. The previous season, he played in eight games, including six with two starts for the Colts. Jones had two receptions for 34 yards.

Jones joined the NFL as a free agent with the Colts in 2012. In addition to his time on three teams’ active rosters, he has done practice squad stints with Indianapolis, Miami, Kansas City, Denver and Baltimore. Jones was also in training camp with Baltimore in 2014.

Talley played in two games for the Giants in both 2013 and 2014, but did not have a reception. He spent the majority of those seasons on the practice squad. Talley was released off the squad on Sept. 30.

The Packers, of course, cut their leading preseason receiver (Myles White) to make room for ... James Jones.

What is with the Giants looking at short TE's. So we've signed 6'2" Dominique Jones - TE out of Shepherd University (plays in a bastion of college football powerhouses - LMAO). This after putting 6'4" Tye on the roster.

We need a power TE that is 6'6" or bigger who can block like a lineman and run routes and catch like Gronk and Witten. Little guys can have a lot of heart, but big guys at the TE position become legendary.

There's been some decent big TE's available off and on since cut day and the Giants simply ignore them as if it's not an important piece of the team. I don't get it.

Do you have a "Power" TE tree in your back yard? If so go pick a TE off of if and send him to the Meadowlands. Throw out 5 TE names we could go get right now. Or even WR at thus point.

6'4" is little now?

Yeah...in the world of NFL TE's it's short. I was screaming at the TV on day 3 of the draft in round 5 for us to take 6'7" Jesse James out of Penn State because I thought of him as a late 2nd to early 3rd round pick. And we've had problems getting a stud TE as a mainstay for quite a few years now. But we took unheard of Mykkele Thompson when James was still on the board which went that round to the Steelers. He will be a monster TE for the next 10 years. He was an early entry so he's young and has some growing and gaining maturity to go, but he had sticky hands and bullied the opposition in college. Steelers got a steal!

For now, Donnell is serviceable, inconsistent, but good for some solid games. Fells was the solid blocker and more consistent than Donnell, so that hurts. Can't always have playmakers at every position, though.
