Eli Manning

Well, I'm pretty much tired of hearing this shit about Eli not playing any role in getting us to the playoffs. In his last few games, he did look pretty bad and at times putrid, but he managed to the game well enough to go 4-1 in the most important month of the year. Obviously, Tiki played a huge role in that but don't take anything away from Eli. However, there is one game that undoubtely canopolted us into the playoffs. I bring this up often but here it is anyway:

GIANTS VS. BRONCOS 10/23/05

That was the game of all games. Not just from an emotional fan's standpoint; but from a winning team's standpoint. I am willing to bet you that AT LEAST we would not have won the division because we would have had a two game losing streak heading into a crucial division game against the Redskins, who just came off a what, 52-17 win over SF at home? We would have been 3-3 going into that one. They would have been 4-3 I believe. Not to mention, we would have wound up 10-6 at best if we didn't win that game and the Skins would have had the tiebreaker over us. So, we would've been pushed out of the division champion role. Not as if it made much of a difference anyway but having a division crown in arguably one of the toughest divisions in football is very nice.

That really got us a lot of momentum and really was the main reason we got into the playoffs. And guess who was the main reason we won? That's right, Eli Manning. It's a chain effect.

Eli had a few moments, but Tiki was the Giant's offense. Most any QB could have done what Eli did, while a veteran would not have collapsed late in the season - a veteran QB would not have choked in the playoff game either.

Brunell didn't look so great either. Eli was a victim of the game plan against the Panthers, I've been saying that in his defense for a long time now.

Though the performance was pitiful, you have to consider the circumstances more. I was saying for the days leading up to the game that we should come out throwing on first down. You watched the game right Lockhart? We came out running, and running unsuccessfully. Why? Because Hufnagel refused to change around the gameplan more and throw on first down. When we did, Eli was 2/2 when it was a close game for something like 30 yards (which btw was in the first 3 quarters). And then when the game was too out of reach to run, they rushed 4 every time where the line sucked and left 8 men in the secondary to cover some players who they would even admit weren't trying their hardest. Eli was a victim of the gameplan when you consider it.

Helicopter didn't get the Giants into the playoffs. Tiki Barber did. Eli went along for the ride. His season changed, hell, maybe his career, when the Minnesota Vikings exposed him for what he truly is. Once the game was over, film of it was being studied by every defensive coordinator. End of Helicopter's early season success.

McNabb choked in the biggest playoff game ever and I am pretty sure he is a veteran

The only real part of his performance I would call a choke was his dry-heaving and the questionable time conservation to end the game. I thought he did an okay job.

you can thank the success of 2005 on a number of things, but not much on the play of Eli...

you can thank Tiki's tireless effort...you can thank a defense that became a UNIT 3 weeks into the season and became dominant...you can thank early season effort from Plaxico & Shockey...you can thank Pierce for making the initial attempt in restoring PRIDE back to the NYG defense...you can thank the players responsible for injuring William Joseph, allowing Tim Lewis to improvise with unconvential fronts and player personnel (the TUCK experiement)...you can thank Feagles...you can thank the O-Line

You can thank Eli , Feely and Joseph for having pride and belief in our Giants team

You can thank the Fag 4 for constant hatred and negativity
