looks like it was worth trading nady. if perez doesn't pan out you got robbed twice in two trades with the same player in the same season

Yeah, if Perez turns out to be a .600 pitcher it won't be bad at all. Cameron was a salary dump... he didn't want to play right field and I doubt we would have re-signed Nady next year anyway.

In that case, I think we should start to move Oliver into a more prominent role into the bullpen, like more of a setup man. Then use Perez or Maine as a long guy if we need him.

Well, before todays start I figured Willie would use El Duque in the bullpen. Now I'm sure he'll start. And you can't not start a 14-6 SP in the playoffs... so Maine is the odd man out, he'll pitch in the pen. Perez should be far from the post season roster and Darren Oliver should be a middle relief man or lefty specialist during the post season.

If it comes down to using the pen much in a post season game:

1-3 Starting pitcher.

3-6 John Maine

6 Pedro Feliciano/Chad Bradford/Darren Oliver

7 Guerillmo Mota

8 Aaron Heilman

9 Billy Wagner

i can't imagine why.

david wells pitched great in san diego as recently as 2004.

he pitched well in his one postseason start last season.

he also pitched great in the postseason for the yanks in 2003 until his last start against the marlins when his back went out.

he also hasn't had an ERA approaching 5.00 (like el duque did this season and last) since 1996.

and he's been lights out since he came off the DL this season.

His ERA RIGHT NOW is 4.81. That's approaching 5.00, isn't it?

El Duque's ERA is considerably less with the Mets than it was with Arizona, and recently, he's been very good.

yeah, after giving up 4 runs in 5 innings and AFTER i made that post, sure.

and yeah, 4.42 is considerably lower than 6.11. but that's like saying rosie o'donnell is considerably hotter than kathy bates

Please stop. I'm sure Wells' ERA didn't balloon that much since you made the post.

3 weeks ago his ERA was 4.98. Saying he hasn't had an ERA approaching 5.00 in 2006 is just wrong.

Look at The Duke's recent stats. ^^ Take away those 2 bad outings, and he's been very good, including 2 shutouts, 2 games in which he gave up 1 run, and another in which he gave up 3 runs, but none earned.

and take away wells last outing and he's been lights out since coming off the DL. and yes, his era DID balloon quite abit when you consider that he gave up 4 runs in 5 innings and has missed significant time this season

Doesn't matter. HE GAVE UP THE RUNS. His ERA went up 0.23. That's not "ballooning".

on september 9th it sure is. for example roy halladay's ERA went up .17 in his start before last and he gave up 6 ER in 7 IP. why? because he's pitched 207 innings. wells has pitched 58. again, you're dealing in small sample sizes

No, you are. I said his ERA for the season was 4.81, and you said that's because of his last outing. What smaller a sample than 1 game? He has had a few games like that this season. However, he has been pretty good recently, as has The Duke.

:LMAO: I find it funny you both are arguing about two pitchers who both have rings from being on the Yanks.

I find it funny that you think they got those rings because they were on the Yanks, rather than the Yanks got rings because of players such as these two.

Even I had to read what I just wrote twice, but I get it. :TU:
