Another Jerry Reese bullseye.

Not only do these high draft picks not make it on our team, they also don't make it elsewhere as well. lol

3rd rounder Jayron Hosley is an unsigned FA.

2nd rounder Randle got a "I'm just happy to be on a team" 1yr contract, where he'll be buried on a depth chart and out of the league in a few years.

2nd rounder Marvin Austin - Nowhere. Unsigned FA

3rd rounder Jerrel Jernigan - CFL (at least the young man is playing somewhere, lol)

Can you pick another team in the league and tell us where their last five third rounders are?

I'm not trying to stand up for JR, it's just me personally anything outside of the first two rounds is a crap shoot IMO.

And this is EXACTLY why I'm not joining 1/2 of Sportswrath in their Harlequin Romance over the 2016 Draft.

What, you're not into the "athletic marvel who never put it all together in college?"

I actually looked at the drafts from 2009-2015. Scored every drafted player for every team as follows:

(25% x games played x round drafted) + (75% x CarAV)

CarAV is a weighted average statistic assigned to players based on their performance on the field per www.pro-football-reference.com. Games played x round drafted gives a higher score to the player who contributes week in and week out that a team found in the later rounds. I assigned the 25% and 75% because I think that performing in a game is better than simply playing in a game.

Anyhow...I summarized these scores by round and by draft year. Of all 32 teams, the Steelers seem to do best in the 3rd round (scoring 42.41 in my analysis). Since 2009, their 3rd round draft picks:

OT, Kraig Urbik

WR, Mike Wallace

DB, Keenan Lewis

WR, Emmanuel Sanders

DB, Curtis Brown

LB, Sean Spence

WR, Markus Wheaton

WR, Dri Archer

WR, Sammie Coates

For comparison purposes, the Giants are 28th in the league in my analysis for 3rd round draft picks, with only the Rams, Lions, Buccaneers, and Redskins doing worse. Giants 3rd rounders over that period:

WR, Ramses Barden

TE, Travis Beckum

DB, Chad Jones

WR, Jerrel Jernigan

DB, Jayron Hosley

DE, Demontre Moore

DT, Jay Bromley

DE, Owamagbe Odighizuwa
