Evan Engram

He doesn't match up against safety and LBs.

He usually has a slot corner on him since he's more of a WR than a TE.

He literally just split through two linebackers who lost him off the line and avoided a safety to take it to the house for 75 yards. Hes a matchup nightmare off the line. Why split him out when you have 6 other players who do that.

Meh it was a broken coverage against a team not know for their coverage.

He didn't split anything other than they all passed him off to no one.

He's better out on space is all I'm saying.

At least now we have a QB who can get him the ball in space

But hes a better mismatch against linebackers and safeties, why would they line him up outside?

unless he gets better at playing the ball in the air, you're right, he should definitely spend almost all his time inside. Almost, got to mix it up some, but he's still clearly a TE, not a WR (and lets give Engram some props for his blocking this season.... pound for pound, he's easily our best blocking TE this season).

Physically, Evans and Engram are very comparable. But you could see how Evans has an elite knack for setting up the corner while the ball is in the air. Engram doesn't have that, at all. Thats what really makes a WR.

All the more reason to keep him out there. If they have to keep a 3rd or 4th DB on him, that's usually a lower caliber DB, plus keeps an extra DB on the field for potential runs... just as much of a mismatch in both instances.

He's lit a few fuckers up this season. I think his blocking is very improved, he's really coming into his own.

I've been paying attention too and I agree. He'll never be big enough to stalemate a DE one on one but he's taking care of the linebackers and safeties and looking dominant.
