Stephen Tulloch released by lions

The current crop of LBs cant cover or tackle.

Atleast bring someone in who can do something.

Someone who can do something isn't good enough, it does sound like the Giants mantra at LB. I'd at least wait until the preseason games before declaring who can't cover or tackle.

Good mix of experience and youth at LB with durability currently being the biggest question mark about them.

I don't think there's a problem with a cheap veteran to shepherd some of the younger guys, but I just read that Tulloch was released because he couldn't pass a physical after having offseason surgery. I'll pass on that kind of veteran leadership.

NM...I must've misread it. It was worded something like, the Lions were waiting for Tulloch to pass a physical and then they cut him. Not every article out there seems to point out that he DID pass it, but they cut him anyway...

...which begs the question...if he passed the physical and he produced last year, why are they cutting him?

It's pretty weird bc apparently they told him he's getting cut back in feb, he has surgery, they wait til July 5, give him a physical, he passes, they cut him. I have no idea what to make of it. Why not just cut him in March or June 1st or whatever if you know you're cutting him for cap purposes.

Not only that, but the Lions paid him a $500,000 roster bonus.
