And So It Begins...

I didn't even realize that Sportswrath had a blog feature. Don't even know if anyone could find it if they knew it existed either. Oh well, I'm not gonna take this too seriously. Just gonna use this area to discuss the Sportswrath Fantasy Baseball League and all of its inherent trades, drops, trends, etc. Either that or I'll use this area to complain about the players who have burned me. Well, since the season has yet to begin and all the trades are pending, I'm gonna go over a short list of pla

Chapter 2...

1994 - Now 9 years old, the youngster can fully grasp the intricacies of the game. He is able to point out missed calls and breakdowns and has truely become a student of the game. He flies around the practice field every day in his second season of playing full contact football just like his heroes. He is quick and has taken on the position of tailback to start his early football career. He has dreams of becoming a professional football player and is excited to watch his first Giants playoff gam

Giants Football - My religion

Chapter 1   January 28th, 1991 - A 5 year old refuses to go to bed, his attention focused on the happenings of Superbowl 25. Tossing a miniature plastic football with his father during commercial breaks, the questions never ended. Dad - Who is the best player on the Giants? You think the Giants can win? Can I please stay up?   He got his wish - With eyes glued to the television as Scott Norwood's kick sailed wide right, he was thrilled to learn the Giants had beaten the heavily favored Buf

NYG Season Review

Alright I know I'm late but I've been busy (started a job with Continental Airlines the day after the NFC Championship game) and had I done this right after the Super Bowl it would've been nothing but "AAAAAAHHHHHHAAAAAAAHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE FUCKIN GIANTS WON THE FUCKIN SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!! LOLZ!!!!!!!!!!!" and that would've been retarded.   First off let me say that I'd never been more proud to be a Giants fan than I was the night of Feb. 3rd 2008. I've

2008: New Hope.

Well, it's early February, pitchers and cathers report today and I find myself with new hope. The Giants just won the super bowl, LSU won the BCS Championship in Janary, and thats got me all excitable. I bought Athalon's 2008 baseball preview mag, and quickly dismissed it as garbage when I read they had the Rangers finishing 3rd in the West. Impossible I thought. They got their Center Fielder, upgraded the corner outfield spots, Blalock is healthy, Salty is gonna be a monster, and Kinsler is

Adult Swim Action Show Review

Everyone knows Adult Swim for the comedy of shows like Robot Chicken, Family Guy, and American Dad (among many others). I of course know them for this as well, but Adult Swim has more than just its comedy. Saturday Nights are home to "Action Saturdays." A lineup of Anime, new and old, that combines ones taste for fantasy style action with solid story-telling and certain "What if?" elements. Currently there are two shows running with new episodes and one returning show. I'll be reviewing these fo

Dragon's NYG Mid Season Review

Alright people... I have to say that I am very pleased with the performance of our (and I mean our) NY Giants. With the exception of the two losses and today's... really wierd game, we've looked great.   QB - Eli Manning has looked very comfortable in the role of the leader. His passes have been sharper, his comp. % is up and he has shown that he has all of the confidence that people claimed that he didn't. Don't take this as a shot at him, but I feel that not having Tiki Barber in the backfi

September

Well, here we are, September, the greatest time of year for sports fans. Thats is, unless you're me. September for most sports fans means the playoff race in Major League Baseball and a fresh start in the NFL. It's nearing the end of the month, the 21st to be exact, and that number has some significance, because thats exactly how many games back from first place my beloved Texas Rangers are. We are fresh off a four game losing streak (actually we've dropped nine of our last ten), with very

Resident Evil: Extinction Review

Alright... I just got back from the movie theater. As you probably guessed from the title I went to see Resident Evil: Extinction, which is (said to be) the final movie in the Resident Evil series. Before I get to the movie itself, I need to explain something.   I am what some would call a purist. When I found out that the movie series wouldn't be following the game exactly, I was kind of disappointed. KIND OF. Unlike all of the people complaining about how the movies have been done, I have

A Little Tide Me Over for the Summer

Every once in a while, i have more um, conventional guests visit the villa. On those occasions, I lock away the significant "other," hire servants with less "submissive" tendencies, and have the guest visit. On one of these occasions, I had Sophia Loren over for a visit.   A very nice lady, and a wonderful conversationalist. She brought over a photo album, and I thought I'd share some of the more fun shots/notes with you.

Bad news

In my first blog, I gave a shout out to my three cousins that were adding to their families. Unfortunately, with a really heavy heart, I have to retract one of those shout outs.   Over the weekend my cousin, Ice's (again I'm using nicknames to respect privacy) wife went into labor. The problem is that she was only 5 1/2 months along. The doctor informed her and Ice that they had two choices: either give birth to the baby and see if they could save him (about a 2% chance of survival), or have

Sometimes...

Sometimes if see a pair of siscors or a really large sharp knife - ya know laying out... I gotta stop my initial urge to chop of a digit. -- I don't touch the knife or pick up the siscors or anything ... it just crosses my mind -- so - naturally I go to -- what digit. -- Which one would I go with... and I always end up on a toe. -- I KNOW if I hacked a toe off I'd be fucked... but that's besides the point... that I don't really vaule my toes. Or at least one of them. That's just kinda sad.

Kobe Bryant

A few weeks ago the NBA Finals hadn't even started yet. Lebron and the Cavs were trying to make a comeback against the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals and the Spurs were trying to relax themselves as they awaited the winner in the Finals. However, the main news wasn't about the impending matchup of the Cleveland Lebrons and the San Antonio Spurs. It was about Kobe Bryant demanding to be traded and then taking his statement back and then demanding to be traded again. I guess it was for g

Life as a Rangers Fan and Being a Loser

There is nothing more American than drinking beer and watching baseball, likewise there is nothing more Japanese than drinking Sake and watching baseball or more Latin American than drinking Tequila and watching baseball. Basically if you want to be truly (insert nationality here), than pop open a bottle of whatever the locals are drinking and turn on a baseball game.   I discovered the game by accident, early in my life my BFF told me he'd be playing for his dads team and I should play.

What does the MVP award mean?

Alright... this isn't just about one MVP award. I'm talking about every MVP award in team sports. Ever since Dirk Nowitzki won the NBA's MVP award, I've been wondering if MVP actually meant Most Valuable Player. Actually I've been wondering about this for a while, but I'm just now deciding to talk about it.   It's an interesting question. I've been hearing multiple definitions for what MVP means. In some cases, sports analysts will say that the award should go to the best player on the best

New Family

I wanted to try out the new blog feature and couldn't decide what topic talk about first so I'm using my first blog to give a shout out to my three cousins that are expecting to become parents. I'll use nicknames out of respect to their privacy. Ice (an older male cousin) and his wife are going to have their second child while Star (older female cousin) and Juggernaut (younger male cousin) are each going to have their first. I am close with all three cousins as well as Ice's wife and Juggernaut'

Salute to some fighters

My Bulls lost to our rivals the Detroit Pistons in game six of the second round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Normally I'd be pretty pissed off about my team getting eliminated from the playoffs, and I am, but this time is a little different. We went down three games to none and looked completely outmatched against the more experienced and battle-tested Pistons, but we fought back and almost took the series to game seven. Unfortunately it was not to be. After the game the crowd at the Unit

A Brief Commentary on Michael Vick

It's not exactly today's news that a dog fighting set up was found on one of Michael Vick's properties. A link for my beloved readers, from your adoring narrator.   Dog fighting. Raising pit bulls for the express purpose of putting them into an enclosed area to tear each other apart. The man is a millionaire, and his tastes are at that level? To think that someone with that much money, that much celebrity would stoop to the level of dog fighting. All that time and effort to raise, of all thi
