Wow - Panthers rescind franchise tag on Josh Norman

Or Carolina just figured out that drama queen was too expensive.

This and Gentleman is an Ernie guy who doesn't believe in shutdown corners. I'm surprised he was franchised at all but must have thought franchising would buy time to negotiate a reasonable deal. Norman wasn't being reasonable so out he went. Probably going to make more money than the franchise tag now.

This...and... a tad over rated.....he is not Revis...or Prime Time.....not by a long stretch.

Beckham straight up owned him...and if 13 could have just keep it shit together the NYG would have won.

Kind of leans toward who owned who in that match up IMO. If he can get into your head you lose. If you can own him, act professionally and own his ass.

From Carolina's perspective though, and rightly so, they didn't need to pay him. Carolina has had a turnstile of DBs and still made due. I completely agree with Ernie and Gentleman that shutdown corners don't exist. The front 7 is where all the money should be. Now if Reese could get the memo on 3 of those 7 it would be great.

I get that...its on Beckham for sure....but the guy (13).... was open pretty much all day long on one on one coverage.

I disagree with the 'over-rated' tag. You can't deny the stats; "The Norman Effect" was real. By October he had 4 INTs (two were pick-6's) and QBs stopped throwing at him.

Welp......Exhibit A that he is overrated....Synder dropped $75 million on him....w/ $51 million locked in.

Nothing says overrated like Synder going all in for you.....particular if he beat the Raiders out in a bidding war.

It's actually 36 million locked in. If they pick up the option it becomes 50 million. Still a lot of money but the Redskins definitely haven't been free wheeling spenders since McGloughan entered the picture.

The 'Skins have mostly mended their ways on that front. Unfortunately, LOL.

Where's Al Haynesworth when you need him.

If they do well this season we're going to have to find another team laugh at in the NFC East. Money is on the Eagles.

His name is Norman. Well...maybe not that bad but this going to be Asomugha bad. Carolina has made every DB look good and Gentleman made the right move to drop him. Now if maybe he would share this wisdom with Reese that'd be great.
