I just find it difficult to believe that it's solely Belicheck that has the eye for the late-draft talent they always seem to pull in.

And it seems to have been assistant coaches that haven't panned out...not sure about their scouting department...don't know that it has ever really been raided before by other teams.

That's the thing too though... this guy is their pro player personnel guy. I don't follow the Patriots much but how well do they really do in free agency or with other teams' castoffs?

Let us first get a new general manager then worry about a head coach. I'm optimistic about bringing in a GM from outside of the organization to bring a fresh look at how things are done. Sure we have had success in the past but consistency has been a problem for decades.

The success of New England seems to be entirely Belichick. Everyone else around him falls flat on their own. Few of their players move on to have the same success they enjoyed in Foxboro. Same for their coordinators and front office. They have been setting the bar on how to run a successful NFL team for nearly twenty years. They aren't doing the same thing in free agency & draft but continuously adapt to current conditions.

I have mixed feelings. This would seem to be the case, but everyone who's left that organization has ended up being pretty terrible.

Right and I dont get the Patricia love, the Pats are 32nd in total defense. Mike Smith is a no and our own Spags in a no too

He had one shot with a bad team. I like his passion and we have the personnel for him to flip our defense right back to top 5

They gave him 5 seasons in Detroit and he had 4 losing seasons. That's more than a shot, they were pretty patient with him up there.

Some guys are good at one side of the ball, he's a good DC.He can make a great living doing that. Look at Wade Phillips.

Wade Phillips had 3 shots before everyone came to that conclusion. One team = one opportunity. Not saying its not possible that hes a wade Phillips, but I think its too early to say that.

I think its also worth noting that his one shot was taking over an 0-16 team
