He has a LOT to prove. I think that TC has to be so excited about having a player with his physique. I think that we will see alot of the new BUS, the BlueBird Bus, during the preseason. We have to see what this guy can do besides gain a yard or two once in a while. Could you imagine what the other defenses would think if the BlueBird Bus became what we all think he could. That's Tiki, Eli, Burress, Shockey, Amani and the BlueBird Bus they would have to account for.

I know Im having football withdrawal but hey if we can't dream what else do we live for? Go Giants

(What do you guys think of the nickname?)

With the exception of the couple of fumbles and the fact that he hasn't yet figured out how to lower his shoulders, I like him. I understand why they don't use him often with Tiki playing his best game at the moment, but I'd still like to see him in there for a full series that is NOT starting on the opponents' 3 yard line. For a guy his size, he's fast as hell, and to see him break one for 60-70 yards would be a thing of beauty. If given the chance, I think he'd do it.

I personally think that he will play the same role he played last year and it will remain the same until he proves himself when given the opportunity. not that he did not produce but I think that the fumble against the cowgirls and being stopped on short down situations still linger in peoples minds. What do you guys think?

You are right, he will never be an everydown back - look for the Gaitns to get their running back for the future in free agency or the draft this year.

The role that Jacobs will play this year is wholly dependent upon the game plans developed by that fool of an OC, Stupid Nagle. There is much we don't know about the abilities of Jacobs, such as his ability to catch a ball. I guess by the end of training camp we will have greater knowledge of what he can and can't do. At least I hope so.

Stop blaming the offensive coordinator for Jocobs inability to hold on to the ball and run the ball correctly. Jacobs is nothing more than a short yardage back and special teams player - period. The OC cannot make a star out of a so-so player. People keep blaming the OC for Eli's collapse and Jacob's inability to gain one yard and his fumbles. It is Elli and Brandon that are failing on the football field, not the offensive coordinator and blaming the palys called is just being delusional and avoiding the truth.

And you know your comments are true because you were a star WR at a prestigious college that you won't name or state when you went there. BTW, why, if you were such a star, were you not choosen in the NFL draft? Also, why didn't you play in the Canadian League (if the NFL didn't want you) or the Arena Football League? Face it, on the Giants mb and the old Sportswrath board, your comments were ridiculed because you know nothing and are LOCKFART THE LIAR

lockhart is the only "person" I've ever come into contact with that gets off on being an ornery asshole every chance he gets. I can just see him in his mom's basement, with the keyboard on his lap and his pants down around his ankles. :LMAO:

Lockhart, I might have agreed with you if the offensive coordinator really had nothing to do with Jacobs' inability to get into the endzone at times. But he did.

How predictable can you get in the endzone? If the Giants were inside the 5 at any time, teams knew Jacobs was coming in and running to the right. Fact. Period. Try to dispute it. Now I'm not trying to make excuses for Jacobs because a guy like him should get in, but if teams know what's coming, they'll be able to stop it.

A perfect example of this is the 49ers game. Jacobs comes in to a get a 4th and 1 pretty early in the game. Then, the next drive, he comes in yet again on a 4th and short and the 49ers stop him: TWICE because they know it's coming.

Then, the playcalling got better. They used Jacobs as a decoy on a 4rd and 1 and Manning found Shockey for the touchdown. The key to that play was Jacobs as a decoy...they sold out to Jacobs.

Want to argue that Lockhart, or will you ignore this post because it holds some truth to it and you can't handle it.

Very similar role unless we are in need of an offensive spark to start the season if Eli and Tiki are both struggling.

I agree. I think if we used him somewhat like the Steelers used Bettis to spell Parker, teams wouldn't key so much on Tiki because we all saw what happened when Tiki got shut down. As far as our RB of the future I can't tell whether Jacobs will become that but I do believe he deserves more carries to add that spark to our offense.

Nope - you are wrong again.

The good short yardage backs almost always get the yards. Bettis, Zack Crockett, Stephen Davis and Rudi are examples of backs that almost always get the short yardage, even with the defense KNOWING they will get the ball. Fact is, the bad ones like Ron Dayne don't get it, because they suck. Tiki was a better short yardage back than Jacobs. Blaming the plays called is what whiners do - winners get the yards and win - like the Steelers. If an offense cannot get a 3rd and 1 when the defense KNOWS the run is coming, they will not be a good team - just ask Parcells. The occasional pass to the TE is okay, but still the CHAMPIONSHIP teams can line-up and run it at you. The fact Jacobs couldn't get in against the pititful 49ers tells you he isn't very good - that's why he was available in the 4th round. Blaming the playcalling is making excuses for bad plays and bad execution, and shows a tendancy toward avoidance and delusion.

Parker wasn't really used as a spark. He was more used as a last resort after Bettis and Staley went down in pre-season.

lots to prove, may just be too tall.

I would throw to him in the flats moving ahead and see what a head of steam would mean for CB's just trying to cut him.

The Giants will move Jacobs to TE this offseason after the draft a running back. He can still do some short yardage rushing and take Shiancoe's place as the 2nd TE - he is big and fast and would excell there, better than he would at running back.

I'd like to see Jacobs get some short passes out of the backfield with a bit of running room.... then he might be difficult to stop.

Strangely enough i even agree with Lockhart here ( first time ever ! )... it would be interesting to see him at 2nd TE in preseason to see if his power, strength and speed would prevail

As a TE he can still catch the flat passes and run just as he is used to and not like a real NFL running back. Watch tfor the Giants to get another running back, let shianco go off as a free agent, and then move Jacobs to TE/H-back.
