The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Week 3

The Good

Holy crap, nearly everything!

- OLine looked GREAT, run game was outstanding and they handled Watt (mostly) for the whole game. Let's hope this it the real OLine and those other guys were just "gelling".

- Cruz finally showed some of the skillz he got paid for.

- Eli's 75% completion has me bELIeving in the WCO.

- DEFENSE! These guys played a killer game, denying Houston 3rd downs all day (they finished 2 for 12!).

- DRC & Mook will get a lot more press going forward.

- Great pressure from the DTs. Finally those voices in Seph's head can be silenced.

The Bad

- Red zone efficiency is still not where it should be. This game should have been a slaughter.

- Critical fumble by Donnell, though it was a very good hit by the defender.

The Ugly

- You've had a great career with us DeOssie but you've just used up your one 'Junkin'.

The Eagles played the AFC south for two of their wins

Its a very, very weak 3-0. The Indianapolis game was a gift from the refs, and the way the Eagles were playing in week 1 against Jacksonville, I think ANY other team beats them going away.

But I have to admit, I gain respect for Chip Kelly every time I watch them play. I thought his was a gimmick offense, and I was so wrong about that.

It's conditioning.

It's conditioning.

I didn't see that. I saw poor play calling compounded by a loser mentality.

Look at Jacksonville's play choice on offense from the first half the second half - first half, they took what was given and sustained drives. Second half they were pressing for chunk plays. They played like they couldn't believe they had a lead. It was one of the worst efforts I've ever seen.

They may be very good in this respect, but I am not buying that the Eagles conditioning methodology is that far ahead of the rest of the NFL. oooh, biometrics, so innovative!... but biometrics is so fucking old, I learned about it in a couple sports video games in the early '90s. Chip Kelly sure didn't invent it, there's no way that other teams aren't already doing something similar. In the NFL, a team with superior conditioning may be able to swing a game in their favor later in the fourth quarter... but not during halftime when everyone is resting. There just isn't that much difference from the best team to the worst.

And now that I've crapped on the Jaguars, its a safe bet they'll get their shit together in time to play the Giants. Damn it.

Of the two games I've seen this year and highlights from yesterday, it definately looks like the defense is spent by the 4th quarter. Time will tell, but coming back from double digit deficits in the 4th quarter to win leans in the direction of conditioning. That said, with Kelce out going into San Fran, I'm not very optimistic about next Sunday's game. Were anorexic in depth on O line and linebacker right now.

Cary Williams said they are worked to hard

I haven't heard him complaining recently, or are you speaking of something he said during pre-season?

I saw the 2nd half of the Indianapolis game... did you mean that the officials were spent by the fourth quarter? Because to me, Indianapolis looked like they were still in it and going strong.

I'm not sure when he said it, but it was a topic on Mike & Mike this morning.

Well... at least it won't be The Giants.

I don't think you saw the same game as the rest of us.

Eagles are looking sharp on offense, but their defense has some issues.

I can very well see the Eagles dropping some games, especially if they make a couple turnovers.

Still, until further notice, they are the best team in the NFC East.....we'll see if that holds true at the end of the season.....hopefully that last game of the season will be huge.

Who are The Eagles playing?

Saw a stat yesterday.....Eagles are the only team in NFL history to go 3-0 while trailing by 10+ points in each game.

I think there's some bad and good to takeaway from that stat.

God some of the 'stats' they rattle off during dead time in games are stupid. "That's the first INT Peyton Manning has thrown in 326 passes during September!". "Amazing."

The Eagles defense is not good right now.

They were missing Kendricks yesterday which didn't help them and Cary Williams was pretty much doing his Izel Jenkins impersonation.

Their offense can score on anyone in the league, we all know you can't keep letting teams in The NFL get these leads on you and then try to come back every game.

So you are right, there is good and bad in that stat.

I was just saying that to my fiancee the other day. Last week, the stat in the fourth quarter was, "The Giants have lost 7 of 8 games in September!"

What was the stat yesterday? "Coughlin and Eli have been together longer than any other QB/Coach duo today, and are the 3rd best all-time!"

Fucking idiotic. Another reason to start hating the NFL.
