Draft day trois, thread.

A little recap of the Giants activities the past two days, via NFL network.

New York Giants
Draft picks: Duke QB Daniel Jones (No. 6 overall); Clemson DT Dexter Lawrence (No. 17 overall); Georgia CB Deandre Baker (No. 30 overall); Old Dominion DE Oshane Ximines (No. 95)
Day 1 grade: B
Day 2 grade: B
Overall grade: B
Draft analysis: I mentioned Jones as a sensible replacement for Eli Manning back in November. The QB possesses a lot of positive traits, and it was time for the Giants to find a successor for Manning. However, many people do not believe Jones is an elite prospect, so the value of the pick will be questioned until he proves otherwise. They received an extra first-rounder in the trade of Odell Beckham to the Browns, and they selected Lawrence, a massive defensive tackle, with the pick. If he shows the ability to push the pocket as well as provide a wall inside, he'll be a major success. GM David Gettleman moved back into Round 1 to pick Baker, the top prospect at a position of need, giving up two Saturday picks (which they had a lot of) in the deal.

Ximines should be a great fit for the Giants. He's agile and strong on the edge, where they needed an upgrade. But the team really needed to improve its offensive line; addressing the position is a must for Day 3.

Remaining picks;

4th #6 - Julian Love CB

5th #5 - Ryan Connelly LB

5th #33

6th #7

7th #18

7th #31

I mocked the Giants to take David Long LB in round 4 who's still there, would make a great rotational pass rusher off the edge and special teams player.

Riley Ridley WR is still there, would be a boost to the WR core as well, basically a super physical possession WR and great route runner, just not the most physically gifted.

Dro Samia is also out there, a top ranked OT out of highschool who moved to guard in college, would add great depth and possibly be able to be kicked out to OT after some coaching.

Love all three of those, but Dave Long was already taken by the Rams. I know because my friend Dave Long has been getting messages from people asking if he's moving to L. A.

Hakeem Butler is another interesting WR still left, the dude is big 6ft 6, 230+ pounds, and strong, dude fights for the catch and turns simple out routes into TD runs.

Has an issue with drops though, but has some crazy stats regardless.

We still need an upgrade over Wheeler at RT.

4 - OT Isaih Prince, Ohio State

5 - CB/S, Iman Marshall USC

5 - LB Cameron Smith, USC

6 - C/G Ross Pierschbacher, Alabama

7 - DL Cortez Broughton, Cincinnati

7 - TE Tommy Sweeney, Boston College

I think they wait for cuts and bring in a bunch of vets/FA to compete for the RT spot, and maybe a late round draft pick since there really arent any "immediate starting" OL left, most of these guys are projection type players.

I bet Prince is an immediate upgrade over Wheeler. Wheeler sucks

Another CB, I think it's nice they're addressing the defense.

Do you think we draft an OT and wide receiver?

There really isnt an OT worth it until the 5th or 6th.

I imagine they will grab one then.

Getty may trade up to take Ridley WR.
