Whats the word on this dude? Seems like a lot of experts seem to think he was a solid talent at RB but just never got the exposure that was warranted and that the Giants have an absolute steal with this one. He could already be the best back on the Giants roster is what one guy says.......

Seems like every year we hear about a steal in the draft... I'll believe it when I see it.

gentlemen.... those holes in college, my god.... granted, I've only watched highlight videos.... but across the board, those good Perkins runs were through holes the size of Delaware. 'Vision'? Okay, we'll see....

Yeah I'm still surprised that scouts can grade college players since college football is one of the most horrible sports to watch out there.

Games are either complete blowouts since most teams lack any sort of talent and go up against teams with stacked players, or they come down to some fluke play.

Might as well be watching the players pop warner games to judge their NFL readiness instead of college ball.

A good blowout is fun to watch sometimes just to see how lopsided it'll get. Seeing tears in the losers' eyes is fun too at times.

The one the gets me is arena football. It's fun because it's football when there's no football, but whoever has the ball last essentially wins. Shame the NFL is heading that direction.

I keep hearing value when they talk about that pick. Honestly I'm more convinced he was drafted because of his perceived value over what he can accomplish on this team.

Those car lanes he ran through in college will not be available for him at the NFL level. Didn't see a lot of hard running and YAC in the highlight films. I don't see vision, toughness, balance, but there might be some speed which will be negated if he can't get past the line of scrimmage or stay on his feet after contact.

NFL player comparison: Less talented version of David Wilson

So that is what this guy thinks of Perkins.

The NFL will self-correct sooner or later....

I just mean the talent is so skewed in college ball.

I use future hall of famer Ramses Barden as an example, looking at his college highlight tapes he looked like the next Randy Moss, but it's easy to catch a ball when the next tallest guy on the field is a 5'7 CB.

It's why I hated the idea of drafting Tredwell in the first round, everything I've seen of him in college was the CB/Safety fucking up on some play and him standing wide open in the end zone, but scouts still had a first round grade for the guy.

I dunno it's why I'm at home and JR and CO get to fuck up fix the Giants.

I watched some highlights and some film. While he seems to have good vision, he is explosive...simply meaning that he glides to the hole, being patient, but then puts his foot in the dirt and goes. He has some wiggle to him and he's not a dancer. It's a glide, glide, cut and go kind of runner. You didn't see him take much, if any, negative yardage.

The film you find online is almost overwhelmingly positive for any player...so I'm sure there are negatives there too. But the style of running is exciting.

I was looking at Bovada and he's actually one of only 12 guys listed for rookie of the year (Shep too)

I have a weird feeling that this may be the unusual Reese draft class where the later-round picks are all pretty decent and it's the first-rounder who sucks.

I think it's going to be difficult to judge Apple this year given he'll be the 3rd CB on the depth chart. While that may not translate specifically to covering the slot and while 3rd CBs are on the field more and more...it will be different than evaluating Shepherd who may be on the field much, much more.

Even Perkins would be splitting time, assuming he earns those reps, I'd think...

That changed towards the end of the season, Tree...I'm hoping that change carries over. And it wasn't every 4th carry...it was every 4th series...taking a player out of an entire quarter essentially, and then putting them back in as if nothing happened.

It should be Jennings, with Vereen spelling him, and maybe a sprinkling of Perkins. Williams can be cut as far as I'm concerned.

Vereen is nice, he just needs to be utilized better.

He was underused and still was 2nd in the team in receptions and 3rd in receiving yards. Only 5 rb's in the nfl had more receiving yards than him, and only 4 had more catches.

But to answer the question, 2 years left.

We'll see what McAdoo does with him now that Coughlin is out of the picture. Vereen definitely produced, he simply wasn't the most effective RB out of the backfield.

That was what I meant. No hate for Vereen's skills, I just want to see him used more consistently. 8 of 16 games with 2 or less receptions while the offense struggled to convert 3rd downs.
