Treehugger Posted November 26, 2016 Share Posted November 26, 2016 Giants have two cornerbacks in PFF's Top 10 through Week 11 Dan Schneier Janoris Jenkins and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are two of the 10 best cornerbacks in the NFL this season, according to Pro Football Focus. The game tape grinders at PFF have graded every cornerback this season on a per-snap basis. They recently released their Top 25 through Week 11. A player's grade is not affected by sheer volume, so the fact that Rodgers-Cromartie hasn't played every snap does not hold him back from achieving a strong grade. Rodgers-Cromartie comes in at No. 10 with a grade of 84.1 on the season. Here's what they had to say about his play so far this season: The Giants become the second team to have more than one corner featured on this list, with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie joining Janoris Jenkins. DRC has allowed only one touchdown and made a series of plays, despite a new role playing all over the defense—including the slot. Rodgers-Cromartie has 137 snaps from the slot in coverage this season, compared to just 32 all last season, and has proven to be a very capable corner from inside as well as out. Rodgers-Cromartie has been at his best when lined up on the outside, but with rookie first-rounder Eli Apple in the mix, the Giants have used him in the slot more often this season. The fact that Rodgers-Cromartie has been able to maintain a strong grade in spite of playing a position that is not familiar to him says a lot about his value to the defense. He might not always get the credit for it, but Rodgers-Cromartie is a core player on the Giants. Jenkins finished a little higher than Rodgers-Cromartie in PFF's rankings, but maybe not high enough. He came in at No. 6 with a grade of 84.3 this season. Here's what PFF had to say about his play so far this season: Janoris Jenkins has been a success in New York, and largely eliminated the huge coverage busts that have plagued his career before this season. He has surrendered just one touchdown in 2016, having been beaten for at least five in every previous year of his career, and is allowing the lowest passer rating into his coverage (64.4) and completion percentage (53.2) of his career, also. Jenkins already has eight pass breakups and two interceptions. From the eye test, you'd be hard-pressed to find a cornerback playing better football than Jenkins this season. He shut down a healthy Dez Bryant in Week 1 and limited A.J. Green to just a few catches underneath when in primary coverage against him in Week 10. Jenkins has shut down almost every other less notable receiver in his other games this season. Aqib Talib tops the list with a grade of 90.8 overall. Malcolm Butler, Chris Harris Jr., Terence Newman, and Patrick Peterson round out the rest of the five players ranked ahead of Jenkins this season.
