At the risk of offending Bleedin'

I think the Yankees found Vasquez's replacement in Ivan Nova. Now, what to do with Vasquez, I have no idea, except maybe put him on the DL for some bs injury, like a groin pull. This way we won't have to carry him into the post season if we make it, and he'd be able to sign with another team in the off season.

its only been one start, but he looked decent...had a good fastball last night. I wouldnt go giving him a spot in the rotation just just. with that said, he still has options so I doubt the yankees will keep him up for long. its not like he was some highly touted prospect, he was rule 5 fodder for the past 2 years.

He looked a little bit more than decent to me. Gets up to 93-95 with an easy motion, and also with a couple of junkers. He was hit hard in the beginning, but then got into a groove. He showed some moxie, too, after Bautista came after him. A lot of kids would have rattled. I have no idea why Girardi took him out. I know I'm excited. We have a rough month coming up.

I head on ESPN radio the other day that Vasquez was going to be used for middle relief. It's nice to see the kids in the minors stepping up. I just hope the kids can continue to carry the load. I've seen kids shine before as they came up......then get killed after they're analyzed by professional scouts with computers. It used to take a year before the "sophomore slump" appeared......due to other teams getting a good look at you for a season. But with computers and teams of scouts working overtime, that one year of analysis is squeezed down to about 3 starts for a pitcher and about a month for batters. Every pitch is tracked, every batting mistake added to the computer. Managers have complete profiles of players in a matter of a few days anymore. Youngsters tend to do pretty good when first called up because there's no data on them aka Joba.

Regardless.....hopefully Nova is the real deal and is more than a one month phenom.
