But why the hell are we not making a push for some 1-year short term signings? Mathis went to the Broncos. The Patriots got Michael Williams from Detroit. Are we even trying to shore up the Offensive Line or does the team think we can wing it for a season with this current inexperienced bunch - who I have to admit - have been better than expected so far in the preseason. Also if your there putting in the time and learning the system how much dissention in the ranks would moves like that make? put yourself in the Linesmen Cleats your not only learning the system (remember Mcadoo's System is only a year old) your learning how to do it with each other and how each other works. So my feeling on the subject is.... let it gel, its coming into its own if you caught the last game. they tried a lot of different combinations with Schwartz and Pugh up and down both sides of the line. they where getting good feedback on what to do with the line. Now, maybe they do bring in 1 or 2 guys after the cut down day but that's a wait and see what they have for depth and who is out there. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He looked pretty good and had better footwork than I expected. He's friggin huge and super young (turned 21 two weeks ago), yet has 4 years experience at LT for Florida State and managed to protect Jameis Winston. He's got tremendous lower body strength with a big ass butt. But is pretty quick on his feet for a big man. I think we have our future RT already on the squad. He certainly needs some NFL seasoning, but he's got a ton of experience already playing 4 years at the highest level of college ball, so he should be a quick study. I don't think I've heard a single Giants fan even mention Hart except me. And I watched him closely in preseason and he looked better than Newhouse out there. That doesn't mean he's suddenly a starter...it's just that most fans don't even know he exists. He's not ready to be a starter yet - fer sure. But give him a year or two, and I see him becoming our starting RT. He's only played against top competition since he played LT at FSU at 17 yrs old...and how many 17 yr old freshmen can you name who got the majority of snaps at a critical position in college in one of the nation's top programs? And if he's stacking up physically, I have to say, I see their point. As far as making no signings goes, I think that if they weren't content or encouraged by what they see in practice, that they'd be going for more veteran players. I can only assume/hope.... Huh...I hadn't heard that. This site is pretty much my whole communication with the outside world concerning the Giants. Although, I get an email a day from FanSideDaily that highlights stories about the Yankees, Giants, Rangers, Knicks, Orangemen, etc. And I usually click open a link that has a story about the Giants. This morning's story says Richburg is hurt. I know that the Giants were planning on converting him to right guard, but he has 4 years experience as a tackle and even though his footwork wasn't perfect and may have appeared awkward, he didn't let the defense get their hands on Winston. And he looked better than Newhouse the other night. He has extra long arms, big hands, and a huge ass....the ass probably has much to do with the coaches thinking guard instead of tackle. But he's pretty fleet of foot and can run better than many tackles his size. He's fat, but fast. Personally, if he could handle the tackle position at a top college program going against other top college programs, he could be molded to handle tackle in the NFL. It's a heck of a lot easier to pick up a plug-n-play guard in the NFL than it is a tackle. I'd rather see the Giants mold him into a tackle for the future because they are so damn hard to get when you need one. I am so glad that we used our first round on Flowers. He certainly has a future on this team. It would be a friggin huge bonus if Hart also panned out. I hope they give him a chance to develop. With an anemic run game consisting of Andre Williams barreling head first into the first opposing player he saw. We have running backs with patience and vision that are healthy right now. I don't see the huge cause for concern. Granted, Manning has to get better at the quick drops and releases, but I don't see the Giants offensive line as being worse than middle of the pack. You folks act like they never draft or sign anyone to come in and play on the offensive line when in reality, they have one of the more young and promising offensive lines out there. Pugh, Richburg, and Flowers are all young and they are all solid lineman. They signed Geoff Schwartz and he's been constantly injured. They sign guys to come in and fight for starting spots each season. What is the problem? The offense can't move the ball in preseason so far because Eli hasn't been able to complete any passes and they have refused to run the ball with the first team out there. I'm talking about his play in the preseason this year. he had 4900 in 2011, so he's on a decline if anything. I've always stood behind him and Coughlin, but you can tell the end is near. Yeah, I just meant that the cause for concern to a lot of folks seems to be the offensive line's play in the first couple preseason games. But they've kept QBs upright. They haven't been able to move the ball, but this preseason, it's not because of the offensive line. If anything, the offensive line has gotten the lion's share of the attention in free agency and the draft while the defensive side of the ball has suffered. Most have never played center. That gives Jones a little extra leverage in making the team because he can fill in at center without missing a beat.
