The Dallas Cowboys are hoping for the best but bracing for the worst after cornerback Orlando Scandrick was carted off the practice field on Tuesday night.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports Scandrick tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2015 season, according to a source informed of the results.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Scandrick's right knee buckled as he attempted to tackle wide receiver Lucky Whitehead. The rookie then fell on Scandrick's leg. Scandrick was in immediate pain, cursing loudly while on the ground. He put a towel over his face and was in tears as he was taken off the field.

In May, Scandrick signed a one-year contract extension, worth $9.5 million.

Losing Scandrick would count as a significant setback for the Cowboys. He is easily the team's best cornerback, and his absence would put pressure on less dependable options like Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne. Last season, Scandrick finished 12th out of 120 qualified corners in Pro Football Focus' ratings.

The Cowboys found a way to persevere last year when Sean Lee was lost early in the team's offseason program. The loss of Scandrick would present perhaps an even greater challenge to Jason Garrett's team. An uncomfortable time in Big D.

That's what he gets for trying to pop that Lucky Whitehead.

Honestly go look at the front page of NFL.com.

It's a horror show of injuries, I dont know what the hell is happening but it seems like 99% of them are ACL/MCL tears.

Fuck the Skins just lost another starter to an ACL tear, that's what five so far?

The league really needs to think about mandatory equipment. Still stuck in the 1960s with respect to player safety.

what type of ACL MCL LCL safety equipment is out there other than a big bulky Knee brace that would slow down your wide outs ? Also there has been a slew of Achilles that where tore right off the bone this year...... Not much in the way of Hammys (which is unusual) . next thing you know all the teams will look like KNights of the round table if they had to gear up to play.

In my opinion it's a jacked issue. These guys are getting crazy strong and the connective tissue can only take so much stress especially with the isolation workouts.
