Grade the Eagles Draft

You're trades were all very good IMO. Jumping up to get Maclin was smart, and 2 5ths for Ellis Hobbs is a bargain.

Cornelius Ingram is a crap shoot in the 3rd, depending entirely on how bad that knee is (apparently everyone else thought it sucks).

EDIT: Nevermind, he was picked in the 5th. Probably worth it.

That was actually a pretty good draft. Im sure Osi, Tuck, Canty, Robbins, Boley, Pierce, Stintim, and Kiwanuka will have fun putting an early end to a promising career for Mr Maclin. And a too long one for McNutts. Well done though.

Give me a fucking break, that's weak. Here's the stats for the game we won at the jail, I mean Linc.

Burress's line, 1 rec, 17 yards, 1 TD.

We scored 36 points, so you do the math.

c'mon booyah you're better than that.....even though burress didn't dominate the stat line you know his mere presence on the field had to be accounted for.

burress had historically killed the eagles every time he faced them so the entire defense was focused on shutting him down. do you think it was a mere coincidence that the entire giants team struggled when he went down? whether the giants ran or passed, burress had to be accounted for each play. he opened up the entire offense for everyone.

They gained McCoy, but lost Bukchalter - Even (and I'm giving the benefit of the doubt.)

They gained Hobbs and "Macho" but lost Dawkins, Sheppard and Considine. - Downgrade

Gained ingram but lost Smith - Downgrade

Gained Peters but lost Thomas - Upgrade

Gained Maclin, lost Walker. Upgrade

Good draft, aa nice trade, a couple nice pick ups, but they don't negate all the Eagles have lost.

Losing Dawkins at this stage of his career isn't that big, and they signed Sean Jones. Sheppard got passed by Joselio Hansen last season on the depth chart. And Considine, IMO, is terrible.

Sheldon Brown apparently wants out though, and that would be a huge loss IMO. He was arguably their best cb last season.

No, its not a big deal, but he's still probably a better player than whoever will replace him. This is just the Eagles old game of cutting ties with a guy too soon rather than too late. I thought Dawkins played well last year.

eagles lost two starters on offense....runyan and thomas

replaced them peters and stacey andrews-upgrade

eagles lost one starter on defense....brian dawkins. although he was the heart and soul of that team, he was sometimes a liability in coverage and they got a lot younger and faster with demps and sean jones at the position. plus the eagles think very highly of mikell.....enough that he could easily replace dawkins at fs if jones or demps don't work out there. jones is a natural ss who has 14 picks in the past three seasons.

the eagles replace greg lewis' position with maclin and buckhalter's with lesean mccoy.

they also added leonard weaver at fb

plus they get back a healthy shawn andrews along the offensive line.

i think they made significant upgrades.

Eagles had a very good draft and I would expect this as they seem to restock the roster very well under the Reid/Banner regime..

With that said the Giants also had a good draft. They filled some needs and got some very good players, alebeit in college, but i guess that goes for everyone when it comes to grading drafts.
