Who will fall to us at 12?

Honestly, at 12 we could have the best of almost everything.

Best O-line, TE, RB, CB, DT, Safety, LB.

We could have the best TE prospect coming out of the draft in recent years, we can also arguably get one of the better WRs in the draft as well.

Some of these top 10 teams are going to reach on a QB which will just push talent furthur down the board. It's not like we are picking 32 or something.

Anything can happen so no telling who will still be on the board at 12. The only thing I know for sure is that the many mock drafts are usually way off. Half the "Top 10 Players" are still on the board after ten teams have made their decision.

I would be shocked if Robinson or Mack was still on the board, but you never know. And I'm not so sure that all the teams needing a QB will burn their first round on one of them simply because there's no real superstar QB there....although, some think Johnny Football is a can't miss. If the teams needing QB's decide to wait until later rounds, that will suck for the Giants because they'll suck up the kind of players that would fit on our team like a handmade glove.

True, but we could've been in a position to TRADE DOWN to #12 and gotten extra picks.

Its the win/loss record of the team. Teams in the NFL do not play for draft position, they play to win.

I'm sorry brother, I only buy into that notion when there's a chance to reach the Playoffs and in turn the SB... the time to show some balls and win was when were still breathing.. instead the team sucked major balls... so why flex your muscles against the Lions and the Redskins when you couldn't do that when it mattered? I know it's too late now and I believe the only reason TC went for the wins was because of his personal record.. nothing else.

Eh, there's something to be said about finishing strong to carry some momentum/confidence into the offseason...but you can get that out of seeing some guys lower on the depth chart make names for themselves too.

I resented not giving Nassib some much needed hands-on experience... I really though Joe had a point when he (and I for that matter) thought we should have drafted the LB Chicago ended up taking. Look, if you're going to pass on a major need for a potential star, you need to put that potential star to the test... Eli was thrusted in there as a rookie... Nassib should have... it's a win win... if we win, Nassib's stock goes up and whether the Giants retain him or trade him... if we lose we better our draft position... and oh.. Eli Manning stays healthy.. .we're lucky it was only an ankle injury... the way he went down sure as hell could've blown out his knee.

Don't get me wrong, I'm completely in agreement that Eli should've only been playing first halfs for the last 2 games...but I think too that there isn't anything wrong with playing to win either, even when games are meaningless. I think there was a way to do both that the coaches didn't act upon.

Management needs to copy and paste this and send it in a memo to Coughlin.

Experience in what? Taking a sack?

If you wanted Nassib to develop the David Carr style of QB shell-shock, then sure, play him.

Personally, if I wasn't playing Eli, I would have thrown in Painter and let him take the beating. Dallas Reynolds--off the street and into your starting lineup. I'm not even trashing Reynolds--but how good could you be if you've been on the squad a week or so?

If you're trying to develop a quality backup, you can't throw a rookie into that. Even if he did everything correctly, there would still be a high failure rate, and you'd destroy his confidence.

I'm on board with that line of thinking ... I'm only taken back to the QBs who started as rookies.

As opposed to what... starting your franchise QB and letting HIM get killed back there? Now we're unsure on whether or not he'll be the same come week 1.

We now have a situation where:

1. Eli might not be 100% for the opener.

2. Nassib has no NFL-game experience.

3. Nassib is useless as trade bait (which probably would have happened anyway... but who knows, the kid could have surprised)

4. We have to "hope someone falls to us" instead of getting the blue-chip player we want.

We got our #1 guy hurt in two meaningless games that could have either improved our backup or given us a better draft position, or both. To me, THAT'S a waste.

1)...or he might. Besides, you can't randomly select the last two games and say he's not playing. Effectively, the season was over after the second Dallas game--should we have stopped playing him then? He could have just as easily been injured in any of those games. That doesn't even take into consideration his starting streak, which I think is silly and not a big deal, but is important to Manning. So he would have started no matter what, and then would have been pulled for the second half--he was injured in the first half of the Redskin game.

2) A rookie with no oline isn't NFL-game experience, it's a disaster. There's a difference between scrambling and running for your life--he would not have learned that last season. It wouldn't have been productive game experience, and might actually have retarded his development.

3) So? For all we know, they want to keep Nassib for his entire contract and beyond. It isn't time to send Manning to the glue factory, but he isn't exactly a young player anymore, either.

4) Even if we lost both games, we would have drafted no higher than 8th(?). If we really wanted to get someone that early, we could trade up. But from the look of things, the guy we want at 8 is probably just as likely to be there at 12.
