Mock drafts from different guys who do this for a living.

By Ed Valentine  @bigblueview on Apr 12 2014, 7:10a 25

By now the names of the players commonly mocked to the New York Giants should sound familiar.

Let's look around the Inter-Google this morning and see what players were selected for the New York Giants in some recent 2014 NFL mock drafts.

NFL.com (Jeremiah) -- Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina

Ebron would be a perfect compliment to Victor Cruz and hopefully help Eli Manning return to form.

DraftTek -- Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

The question here is not whether or not Taylor Lewan makes sense for the Giants, but whether or not he'll be available when the Giants pick. National Football Post's Greg Gabriel said, "It's not gonna happen" in reference to Lewan being available at 12. He also said Lewan is better than last year's #1 overall pick Eric Fisher. Gabriel spent a long time in personnel, including Director of College Scouting for the Chicago Bears. In this scenario, though, Lewan is available likely because of the assault charges hanging over his head, or the questions about his consistency and tougness. This much is sure: the Giants still have plenty of question marks along their offensive line with Will Beatty coming back from a broken leg, J.D. Walton not playing a down of football in well more than a season, and Chris Snee coming off back-to-back subpar seasons. It's better for the Giants to have three OTs for two spots as opposed to one OT for two spots, which is why if Lewan is the likely pick.

CBS Sports (Rang) -- Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M

To get back into Super Bowl contention the Giants must protect Eli Manning, whether that come in the form of additional blockers or pass-catchers. The 6-5, 231-pound Evans plays with the physicality and speed to feast on the relatively short corners of the NFC East division and is an excellent value at this point in the draft.

CBS Sports (Brugler) -- Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh

The defensive line has been the bread and butter of the Giants winning seasons over the past decade, but the interior positions need some help. Donald is a quick penetrator who can step in from day one and be an impact player.

CBS Sports (Kirwan) -- Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

The Giants win when they protect Eli Manning and run the ball. Lewan gives them a better chance to do both things right away.

SI.com (Banks) -- Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina

With good fits for New York like Evans, Lewan and Donald already off this board, I'm sticking with Ebron, the Tar Heels' tight end who would add an element of explosiveness to the Giants offense. The defensive needs are many, but as the new guy, offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo probably gets the jump ball in this, his first draft with the G-Men, and that spells finding another weapon to help Eli Manning en route to a rebound season.

I added McShay's

12. New York Giants: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

Lewan would be a steal for the Giants at No. 12, as they need a left tackle and Lewan has the ability to be a very good one in the NFL if he can improve his strength. He has great experience and durability (started 48 of 50 career games), is a very good technician as a run-blocker and has quick feet and hands as a pass protector. He has an off-field issue that the Giants would have to be comfortable with (his arraignment for assault charges stemming from an alleged 2013 fight has been delayed until after the draft), but assuming they are, this pick is a no-brainer.

Here's a list that will keep you busy for a month: http://www.dcprosportsreport.com/MockDraft.htm

One of the things I love about draft day is the way teams do almost exactly the opposite of what they are suspected of doing. Picking QB's in the first round that could be had in the 5th or 6th....the Cowboys last year taking a Center with their first pick that could have been had in the 3rd, etc.

It's what makes the draft so damn interesting. I can't believe they moved it back to May. I had a hard enough time waiting for the 3rd week of April.

There's going to be a run on QB's in the top ten, which will push talent to the Giants.

That's my hope...and that some team drafting between 15-18 will throw in their second round pick to trade down to the Giants in order to get a QB that is still on the board.

A scenario that would make me turn the TV off and not watch the rest of the draft would be: "And with the 12th pick of the 2014 NFL draft, the Giants choose Johnny Manziel"! I might even break my TV before Mel Kiper starts praising the move and saying he can't believe Manzeil fell that far.

That's the thing you never know about the draft.

The Cowboys got a guy who is going to hold down their line for years, isnt that what you want in a first round talent? Heck our former first round pick WR just left the building this offseason and our other first round DE is turning into Osi 2.0. At the same time the Giant's find guys like Bradshaw, Cofield, Boss, Diehl, etc all in the late rounds of the draft who turn out to be better then most of the first round picks we have had heh.

I love this time of year and hearing all these experts go on and on about these players like they are a sure fire thing because in such and such stat say so, or that he runs fast or is a certain height. Then you have other experts out there who just have gut feelings about players and how they will play, relying on either past NFL experience or just being lucky.

When at the end of the day it's more of a crap shoot then anything, do teams just draft based of talent (JPP) or do they go after someone they know will help the team despite "where they could of got them". I'm a bit of a later guy, who cares about what a player "could be", when you can grab someone who you will know will be on the team after 10 years and would help more then some guy who ends up being a bust and off the team in four.

Great point. I remember laughing my ass off when the Cowboy's made their pick and all the experts were shaking their heads in disbelief. It's possible that Jones will get the last laugh. I hope not!

This is a draft that is nothing like the others and could be closer than all the others. Apparently not enamored with Clowney and has Timmy Jernigan going dead last and Troy Niklas going in the first round. It's got Dee Ford going ahead of Darqueze Dennard. Every mock I've seen practically has Dennard in the top 10 or 15, and Ford going in the 2nd. I will not be surprised to see Ford go before the 20th overall picks.

I like mocks that don't copy each other and make little changes. Makes this one cool. Could happen. Nobody knows.

I don't have Jernigan going until round two, also Benjamin in round two. I have Morgan Moses from Virginia in the first round.

Makes one wonder if Timmy isn't related to Jerrel. Timmy is a lot bigger than Jerrel, so maybe not.
