Yankees will win AL East

Recommended Posts

oh yes, I said it. Boston is not nealry as good as they wanted us to believe. Manny and Ortiz havent had a clutch hit all year. Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youcouldlickthis are their biggest offensive threats and their pitching, which is their strength, doesnt do well against the Yankees. Add that up with the fact that the Yankees are getting healthy, their pitching staff is rounding into shape, Hughes coming back in a week is HUGE and the Yankees offense has finally gotten it toghether...the guys who were slumping all year, Melky, Cano, Matsui, Damon are now hitting like theyre supposed to. Its on!!!!

Well, we need it all to happen first but I am a fan forever and as much as i have been frustrated with Torre many tiimes for not playing small ball, there is enough talent on this team to win as long as everyone gets and stays healthy.

you guys are acting like red sox fans

 You've made an awfully big prediction. Keep in mind a couple months ago we looked to be back on track and when we played legit teams we went back to suck. Being we are playing crappy teams again, I'm not going to talk all that about us taking anything.

this team has been playing scary good for a month now, and theyve beaten up on some good teams in the process

They took 3 of 4 against Oakland, then they took 3 of 4 against Minnesota, then 2 of 3 against the Angels. and then we won 3 of 4 against D-Rays, then 3 of 4 against the Blue Jays, then 3 of 4 against the D-Rays again. And now 1 game against the Roylas...the same Royals team that just trounced the Red Sox and has been 15-8 in their last 23 games. Now other than the Devil Rays, the teams we've been playing and beating have been good with excellent pitching staffs (even the Royals, their pitching staff ERA of late is like 3.50)

The Yankees are getting healthy and the guys who have been slumping are waking, this team is fianlly reaching its potential and things are only get better with the pitching coming around...Hughes is coming, and I just heard they are looking to trade for John Garland, who is very good. Hopefully theyll get him, that way, we wont have to see Pussina and Iggy again.

So in their last 24 games, they have 18 wins

The question is, did they dig a hole too deep? They are 7 and a half back, but a two game losing streak and a modest 2 game win streak for the Sox puts them 9 and a half back. They must continue to play this way for the rest of the season. Boston isn't going to fold, unless they get the injury bug again.

I dont know, theyve fallen back down to earth while the Yankees have turned it on.

This is not the first time the Yanks have turned it on. They have shown that they are just as capable of being pretty bad. Like I said, they'll probably have to play this way until the season ends. Can they sustain this level of play for another two months? They've been too inconsistent to believe they can, but we'll see.

Also, they do have a game in hand... that 8-6 game against Baltimore that was suspended.

How will that work? I don't recall the circumstances.

What the fuck is Garland going to do other then push Hughes out of the rotation? Last thing we need is another pitcher who cant strike anyone out. Nay on Garland.

and what kind of lopsided trade would that entail? Chamberlain, Tabata, ect...hell no

After last night...It looks we will at least get the WC. The division I'm not sure about.

I dont know, were still 5.5 out behind Cleveland and 3 behind Seattle. Quite honestly, I believe we'll surpass Seattle, but if we dont win the division, which is gonna be REAL hard, I dont know if we'll get past the Indians. They've been pretty hot this year.

Just an outsiders take, but you have to figure that somewhere along the line Manny and Ortiz will get hot. Bostons pitching is very strong and I think that is what allows them to hold off the Yanks. Yanks easily could get the WC, especially when you consider Minny/Cleveland/Detroit all beat up on one another while the Yanks feast on the AL east bottom feeders.

dub, first of all, John Garland is a very good pitcher. Last I checked Wang isnt a strike out pitcher and he is one of the best pitchers in baseball. Im not advocating he takes Hughes spot in the rotation, its Pussina's spot I was thinking of. Secondly, Tabata and Chamberlain are untouchable, they wont be traded unless theyre getting a guy named Sanata in return. Im didnt say trade them for Garland. However, Id give them a package of Jeff Marquez, either Duncan( Shelly or Eric) and Tyler Clippard.

I dont know about Manny, I think we might be seeing the demise of one of the greatest right handed hitters to ever play the game. His production was down last year and this year its down even more. I see no evidence thats says Manny is just in a slump and not a declining superstar. And Ortiz isnt going to get any pitches to hit if Manny isnt Manny.

You know Mussina is not going to shut his mouth if he gets pushed to the pen. :LMAO:

While it's perfectly reasonable for the Yankees to surge and overtake the Red Sox, there are so many reasons that they won't. Since I'm jet-lagged, I'm only going to say is that the Yankees are unsustainably hot right now and you're getting ahead of yourself.

Actually, I'll say more, because there is more to it than just the State of the Yankees, you have to be keenly aware of the State of Red Sox Nation.

1. Curt Schilling has been out for months because the Red Sox felt comfortable enough with their lead to fully get him strengthened for the stretch.

2. The Yankees lineup can and has mashed while the Red Sox lineup lacks consistency. That doesn't change the fact that any one of these guys can get hot at the exact same time (except for maybe Drew of the 6 HRs).

3. Have you seen the Red Sox pitching staff? Beckett and Matsuzaka are dealing, Schilling is going to return, Tavarez has finally been kicked out of the rotation, and for the time being, Gabbard is impressing. More important is our bullpen that can actually hold leads with a 7-8-9 of Manny Delcarmen, who has come into his own (and also played baseball with a drug dealer I know), Okajima, and Papelbon. Pineiro just got sent to the minors for Lester until Schilling returns, and Donnelly is returning. Even if we haven't done it in the most conventional way, we have the best bullpen ERA in the AL and it's improving.

Fuck, I don't think I went anywhere with this.

Basically put, I'm still scared shitless by the Yankees.

But pitching does win championships and we have the hitting to boot.

You have hitting and...Mike Mussina.

Your pitching has, and has been getting their asses handed to them all season by the Yankees. Just a reminder.
