FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- As he continues his drive to 300 victories, Tom Glavine gets ready to take on one of his favorite opponents.

Glavine seeks to lead the Mets to their seventh win in nine outings Thursday when they look to sweep their two-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

A two-time Cy Young Award winner, Glavine (3-2, 2.29 ERA) is 20-12 with a 3.12 ERA against Pittsburgh and has 278 career victories. In his last outing, he allowed four hits in seven scoreless innings of Friday's win over Atlanta.

Carlos Delgado belted a 12th-inning home run and Endy Chavez had four hits for the Mets, who moved five games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East Division with Wednesday's 4-3 triumph over the Pirates.

Lefthander Paul Maholm (1-3, 5.86) makes his sixth start of the season and will face the Mets for the first time. He comes off his best outing when he limited the Phillies to one run and six hits in seven innings on Saturday.

Freddy Sanchez hit his third homer of the season Weenesday for the Pirates, who have dropped 14 of 16 road games.
