Chad Wheeler

Chad Wheeler grew on me going from being undrafted to be kept on the active roster over Adam Bisnowaty. Right now I think he is better than Bobby Hart but not as good as Ereck Flowers. I would like to see an improved Chad Wheeler this preseason, he has to transform himself in the weight room, and maybe he becomes the swing tackle we need.

Not as good as Ereck Flowers? Wow, that's pretty fucking bad then.

If Ereck Flowers was drafted in the second or third round, people would be talking about how well he plays in a different manner. Obviously he hasn't lived up to the expectations of a top ten first round pick but we're going into another season and Flowers could very well be the starting RT. For as bad as things were on the offensive line last year, he wasn't the worst.

The only reason he wasn't the worst is because we also had Bobby Hart on the line, who was literally the worst. Hart was the lowest-graded RT in the league last season.

Nobody would think Flowers' play is adequate, regardless of what round he was picked in. Will Beatty had a horrible season one year and literally everyone on this board was calling for his head. Flowers graded out as the 51st best tackle in the league last year, if you believe PFF... that's really bad.

Some really smart people were calling for OL and LB help last year during the draft. Too bad Jerry Reese wanted to take more skill position players instead.

the good thing about Flowers last year, he had a pretty long stretch in the middle of the year where he was fairly consistent, he had some flashes of dominant play in there too. I saw a breakdown on a Bengals site of Bobby Hart's struggles, and on the other side of all the footage they brought to the show Flowers really was putting some good work on film. So I'm not giving up on him, especially not at RT, probably where he should have always been.

But he started the year terribly, and he finished the year terribly, and not merely on the field. And I have to wonder.... if Hart were not almost as bad as playing with ten men, would Flowers have really gone something like 12 games without giving up a sack? I'm thinking his man would have gotten home had Hart's man not already ended the play.

That is too hypothetical for me to figure into how good or bad was Flowers last season, team sport and everyone had a year they wish they could have back. I really do wonder if the Giants had made a better decision early on with Flowers, would things have turned out differently as well. Then I think about something a coach once said about how great players don't use circumstances to explain failure.

It is year four and I just don't see Flowers having a future with this team past the 2018 season. Very disappointing all around.

Given the draft position, Flowers is a bust. There is no debate.

Can we maybe get him to adequate, perhaps. But a 1st rounder needs to be well past adequate on day 1...let alone year 4

You said that already
