Back to football.

The team comes together Monday, rookies and veterans alike.

Daniel Jones has yet to sign a rookie deal.

O.X. is expected to sign one on Monday, leaving Jones the only odd man out of the draft to not have signed a deal.

A lot of reports coming out that Julian Love might be the rookie to surprise people on the defence, a very versatile player who can play any secondary position on the field, might be an early replacement for Bethea at some point.

On that note Baker is going to be thrown into the fire day one, reports are he is the clear starter opposite of Jenkins and if the secondary is going to improve he is going to be the man at the helm of it.

Which brings up Peppers, who has been horribly underwhelming his career to this point, another key piece that is going to have to step up if this defence has any chance at getting out of the basement of the NFL, and also shutting fans up about the trade.

Who am I excited to see? Marcus Golden and Oshane Ximines, if the rookie can live up to the hype and Golden can get back to his 13 sack a year form, the Giants may all of a sudden have a pass rush.

Just nice to be back to football.

I'm intrigued about the defense in particular, because they well could be a boom or bust:

- How the secondary will come together. Two new prospective starting safeties, and entirely new CB's behind Janoris Jenkins, Beal, Love, and Baker. Or will Tony Lippett and Grant Haley be in the mix.

- What pass rusher(s) will emerge (if any)

- Young but promising DL. I'm interested to see how they hold up.

The offense I'm not too worried about. I figure the OL will be better this year with Zeitler, Remmers, with Hernandez having a season under his belt, and a Solder without off the field/family distractions.

I'm excited to see all the rookies we drafted... I think the team will use this year as the year for most of these guys to get some game time experience... and I expect our secondary to be the best in the league in a very short period of time...

I'm very excited to see the secondary in a year or two.

Baker/Bellentine and Love were all top 10 in coverage rankings for the draft and Beal was a steal in the supplemental draft.

I didn't understand why they threw a two year contract at Bethea, but it makes sense after getting all these rookies in the secondary, they need a leader who knows Bettchers system.

Jones has signed his rookie deal.

That Raanaananannana ESPN analyst posted a good point that the whole QB competition aspect of camp is made up and Shurmur has zero intention of station Jones this year even if Eli shits the bed.

This is bust defense. But, Im ok with that. This is an extremely young defense, especially in the secondary. We should expect this defense to be in the bottom 10 in the league. My thing is, for the Giants higher up not to listen to the media. I like the direction this team is heading. But its going to take time. I think about 3 years to be SB contender. I honestly believe that.

My only issue is: even though the Giants have addressed the Oline problem. I really think we should have gotten a little younger. Especially in this years draft... a lot of talent in the Oline. And taking just one Olinemen was a bit of a head scratcher for me.
