We signed a RB

Well... a RB ain't shit without a a good OL.... Barry Sanders was once in a generation talent.

Plenty of teams do fine without a "good" OL in the run game.

As much as I liked Jennings, and the wombo combo of Bradshaw and Jacobs, the Gints havent had a true starting RB since Barber.

To bad Wilson had to have a bum neck.

Our Oline was especially terrible running the ball.... I just feel the priority is OL ahead of RB

I think we all agree that the blocking of the offensive line needs improvement for the team to move to the next level. We went to the playoffs but I don't expect the Giants to make a return trip without a significant improvement from the offense.

We really don't have a RB on the roster that is a threat and we need one.

Need to see more from Perkins in 2017 who should be the starter for the season and Vereen is a one dimensional third down back.

I think we've seen enough from Perkins to warrants he's got something special... and OL signings have been good so far and if (big if) the Giants land Joe Thomas, then all bets are off... although I'm very excited about Mangold but to a much larger extent Brandon Marshall... and that FB we signed... The latter strikes me as one of this little fixes that would yield huge results...

I'm not clear what you mean when you say they're not a true RB. Between them, they put together a bunch of 1,000 yard seasons, and overall were very reliable. They're no Tiki Barber, but that's a hard guy to live up to.

I never said they weren't a true RB, but neither of them could carry a team on their own like a starting RB in the NFL can.

Both of them relied on a rotation to get the job done, plus one of the best Olines the Gints have ever put on the field.

Since Barber the Giants have relied on a roster of RBs to carry the load, either Jacobs/Ward/Ware/Bradshaw a handful of years ago or with Jennings/Vereen/Perkins/ whoever, they have always had to cover the fact that they havent had a starting caliber RB on the team for many seasons now.

I'm not saying those guys are horrible RBs just none of them had the talent to be a solo back, like Barber or many teas in the NFL currently employ.

Ah. That's fair and makes sense.

Not sold on Perkins yet that is why I think he should start in 2017. Need to see a lot more from him because I'm not impressed but hopeful.

Star Ledger is reporting that the giants are holding a private workout with Texas RB D'Onte Foreman.

I saw him play a little last year and he's okay. I wasn't overly impressed but he can get the job done, and the size is a plus. 3rd - 4th round grade probably in my view, but I bet some teams have him higher.

I do have a low bar here so yea :P

Yeah it really is hard to set a high bar at RB around here :(

We haven't had a 16 game starter in a very long time, Bradshaw played on two broken feet. Everyone since Bradshaw played behind an offensive line that hasn't stopped a defense from penetrating into the backfield.

I would love to see a Giants RB not get swarmed in the backfield, make a defender miss, get the tough yards, stay alive after contact, break off a run longer than 20 yards more than once a year and make it into the endzone for a TD more than five times a year.

Some of this RB issue is due to wasting a few years either keeping older players too long or always too many starters injured. always filling holes since the last Super Bowl. Been nothing since Bradshaw and Jacobs when they weren't banged up too.
